Mountain Dew Code Red ARG? Posting this here before I go much further into the interface. (Click "Unleash the Code")
Heh, forgot. Here's the link: http://www.codered.com/index.php?or=gmspt.325&trtmnt_id=100598
My responses:
(First Run)
First Prompt--7 (got a strange message about someone wanting to take over the world)
Second Prompt--8 (Got a telephone-style numeric pad, and I dialed in 8,6,4,2. When I did that, it started ringing, and someone answered--I freaked and closed the window )
(Second Run)
First Prompt--42 (Seems that you get the same message regardless of input)
Second Prompt--11 (some video about a "Mountain Dew Code Red Response Team"...it was a bunch of people in red jumpsuits passing out Code Red. At the end, the camera fell as if someone had dropped it, and at the bottom of the screen, it read "Uplink Interrupted")
Third Prompt--1337 (Strange. Just...strange. Nothing else though, another prompt showed up)
Fourth Prompt--3 (There was a 5 second countdown, and then it prompted to print the page. I did, and I'm attaching a scan of the page)
Fifth Prompt--2 (Gave me the same numeric keypad as 8 did on my first run)
Dialed Numbers/Sixth Prompt--733 (There was the ringing again, and a voice said "Hello?" 3 times, and hung up, leaving the busy sound.
Dialed Numbers/Seventh Prompt--000 (Same as before, but the "unleash the code" prompt reappeared
Dialed Numbers/Eigth Prompt--000 (He sounded annoyed this time, and told a woman that he thought the phone was broken)
Dialed Numbers/Ninth Prompt--000 (He was angry this time. His wife asked him to check the caller id, and he said "all it had was a bunch of ones and zeros" to which his wife replied that she thought that was "in New York or something"
Dialed Numbers/Tenth Prompt---000 (He answered and told me that he would call the police if I called anymore)
Dialed Numbers/Eleventh Prompt---000 (same as above, but different wording)
Dialed Numbers/Twelveth Prompt---000 (Cute. They let me get their answering machine
EDIT: I've got a phone number. (214) 259-2679 Anyone want to call it?

OK, I called the number & was immediately routed to a voicemail box. There was no information about whose box it was though. I left a voicemail with my number. I'll be interested to see if anyone calls back.
There was also an option to back out of the voicemail box. Doing so takes you to another automated system with more options...

one of the numbers I typed in led to a -countdown...5...4...3...2...1...PRINT 0:00?
then my printer page popped up and I clicked "print" and it printed off a black face with http://myspace.com/coderedfan over and over again, all over the face.
cant find anything really interesting..but i havent really looked.
He has one picture in his profile with the caption "Live by the Code"

the phone number shows up on one of the pages (which are completely random and it doesnt matter what number you type in, you can type in "1" only and get different pages everytime...anyway, since the link of the page wont send you there, i took a screen shot of the number.

first thing I do with a phone number is rip it apart and google it..
major companies usually have many numbers so they get a block 222-111-1200 - 222-111-1299
214-259-2670 is the fax number for miller beer in texas (what that has to do with anything I don't know..)
(next thing I would check was to see if it was a skype number (like the perplex city police department has)
the flash on the page causes my browser to crash...

Here is the text of the movie at the beginning:
Quote:
(masked voice): No longer will I be controlled and manipulated.
Now I control and manipulate
Starting here, starting now.
Today I write the code.
Replacing misinformation and misinformation with truth, and trust to reveal what others try to conceal.
today the World Wide Web, tomorrow the world.
And I will make the rules and call the shots
(will rule?) by my code, and then....
(Lady interrupts): Why do you have to have it so dark in here?
(non-masked voice): Mom!
EDIT:
No matter what 3 digit number you type on the keypad, it will continue the "fake calls" sequence.
EDIT EDIT:
I did the number thing three times after the answering machine comes on, and it's the same message.

Oh yeah, it's definitely viral marketing.
But so was "The Beast" , "I Love Bees" , "Last Call Poker", "The Heist"....

Well then, I have to ask you what your definiton of an ARG is, since ARGs came from viral marketing.

@Varin
I got the number via one of the random redirects, and the attached image (in all it's crappiness) was a scan of the page that you could print on another of the redirects
@everyone else
Sorry bout this...I got excited thinking this was a new (but somewhat...market-related) ARG, but I guess I'm wrong.
