Just a thought, wistful thinking that this might somehow be related.

It was first reported on unfiction as Feb. 9th 2005 here.

Bungie has officially stated this is a hoax here.

C'mon guys. A basic ability to search a website is kinda required here. Smile

If you find it highly troubling, don't play. Or if you do, don't distract the rest of us with your distaste.

Please, let's not make things personal. Okay?

Whew, this sure went dead quick. I take it we're all waiting for any word on if there was a call or not.

1) I'm not playing it. I'm keeping an eye on it.

2) Nothing I said (except perhaps the willful ignorance comment) was at all outside the bounds of acceptable civil debate. I didn't call anyone names. I didn't toss around insults or swears. I just disagreed in a strongly worded post. I suggest, if you're going to stick around, that you attempt to distinguish between a debate and a fight. The difference is often crucial.

3) Since when are we all required to conform to one opinion? If I dislike something about the game, I must remain silent? Good grief. Look at my post count, Chumlee. Probably a good third of those posts are responses to someone with whom I disagreed, and yet I still got nominated for the "Favorite All-Around Beekeeper Award." Not all of them rubbed me the wrong way as much as Nadif's post did, but I've spent a lot of my time here disagreeing. Disagreement is not always a bad thing. You can disagree with someone, and express it, and believe it or not, everyone can walk away in one piece. Most of the time, you can even disagree -- passionately -- and still like each other. Please do not try to silence those who disagree with you. Everyone has as much right to their opinion as you do.

4) I am not trying to imply that the PMs -- or anyone else, for that matter, other than the medieval Christians who came up with the concept in the first place -- are antisemitic. I'm simply saying that the figures of Ecclesia and Synagoga (the original ones, not the characters in the game) are results of antisemitism.

Please read that again if you skimmed over it the first time. It is a crucial distinction.

5) We're all on the same side here, yes? We can all agree that ARGs are good and antisemitism is bad.

6) I have a feeling that this, in *this context,* may prove to be largely irrelevant. That doesn't alter the seriousness of the issue itself but it may mean that this discussion is largely moot.

That said, I apologize to any newbies who may have been startled by the force of my disagreement.

I would tend to think that the charictor names are more to denote a difference in ideology between the two sisters, i sevearly doupt that the difference has anything to do with religion. I think our job here is to figure out what side of what argument each sister is on. mainly i think that we still need more to go on.

Hi everyone. I'm Moss, and I'm new to this whole ARG thing... I sorta looked at 'the Cube', and at 'Sable & Shuck'... Haven't really done much of anything yet...

Ahem. Anyway, I'm just introducing myself and saying that I'd like to help in any way I can. I've read the board, the Xanga, etc., and this seems really interesting. So I'm offering my services, whatever they may be (I'm really still unsure myself, I guess), and... Yeah...

On a different note: Let's not bicker amongst ourselves. We'll never get anything done that way. Personally, I don't think that the symbolism is wrong, but if it turns out to be nothing (though really, it does seem doubtful that would happen), no big loss. At worst we were wrong. Right?

This looks like a lot of fun; I hope that I'll be of some help.

I commented on the Xanga (as Rhedyn) and I think I might send him an email. And talk to Syn.

That's all for now,
~Moss

hey vector that sounds really good, i think youve got it, it keeps the symbolism without the religous controversy, ive kinda been thinking it might be along those lines
