Ha, just looking over his previous posts. Looks like this unknown being feels a lot like we do about the situation:
"they tell me to look for things that aren't there"
"no connection can be established"
"I can hear you but I don't know how or when"

Shocked
Maybe she's one of us from the future.... ooooooo

I'm pretty new to this and probably way off, but I keep wondering about the connection to ILB. Some of the stuff going on here sounds like ILB... but not quite?

That's what I want to know. It seems like it, but lacks the gloss of the original. The game as a whole seems really disorganized right now. This game needs some serious tuning. It's taken off the runway, but whether it's going to get airborn is a question that remains to be answered. Thoughts, anyone?

EDIT: Intersting notes - this particular payphone seems to be one that was used in the original ILB game (http://www.payphone-directory.org/paypa.html), and, this is just my opinion, but when it one of the decoded messages stated 'contact imminant', it would suggest to me that there would be an eventual date and time for the call to take place. IF this game has anything to do with ILB, I think the puppetmaster knew this would be an easy puzzle for seasoned vets, and would make the connection with the payphone(s).

Yeah, thoughts!

I dunno, but the parallels to ILB ARE striking.
payphones and emails and blogs, o my

So is this some fan-fic arg about SP's (i know, not confirmed) twin?
Something meant to make us feel nostalgic and nothing more?
Disgruntled employee of 4ourty2wo making their own ARG?

two interesting things:
1)It did, mysteriously, appear on ARGn before anyone knew abuot it
2) the sounds files are good quality. He didn't just sit down and record that on a tape (sure, his dad helped Rolling Eyes ) I don't think this ARG is as grassroots and lowtech as it appears.

But when does the "gloss" come in?

EDIT: I'm almost positive, if it was related, there would be SOMETHING confirming it at ILB (they did keep that site up.... but I digress)
I'm checking the site, then metro-ing home... I'll check in again from there
Has anyone confirmed that the number is now getting a pick-up?

hey little sister what have you done...

If we take poor Lenny's site as at face value he's just a kid.
However, the young lady who ran the Sarah Kiddo ARG was only 17 and that was pretty damn cool.
Let's not be so jaded and give this thing a shot. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) projects can have some pretty ground breaking results.

Very Happy
Thanks for keeping things in perspective, Dmon man!
Yeah, "kids" can make ARGs... I would know....
It doesn't feel low-tech to me, but it might be.
I personally think its someone who knows someone at ARGn

hey little sister who's the only one.....

I didn't actually realize you were the "Sarah."
Although I didn't actively participate in Sarah Kiddo, I found it to be very well written and quite entertaining.
Thanks for making such a great game and here's to hoping that poor Lenny can live up to the standards you raised pretty damn high.

Ha, I'm blushing here
Embarassed

I didn't raise the bar... when I started writing mine up, I didn't quite know what an ARG was, so I made it up (with some of my own references to ILB...)
So not raising the bar, just kinda ignoring it Wink

Its what makes 'em good, I suppose, doing an ARG your own way

I can't wait to see how this Lenny thing pans out.

yeah I guess I was just wondering whether this is someone picking up with the ideas from ILB and running with it (however lowtech or not they might be) or whether something would happen 'officially' at the ILB.

I'd prefer it if it was the former, actually.

looking over old posts and back at Lenny's site...

whoever's contacted him says "my sister would know what to do" Then, in the coded message "you are like her"

Like her because he knows what to do? Or is there some other reason he's been contacted- some similarity to the sister?

probably nothin, just thinking out loud Embarassed

Ok, so we have something to work on:
1) the payphone: someone should have a look at it, maybe it's not going to be used to actually do\receive phone calls, but may be carrying physical clues (writings, stickers, this kind of thing).
2) we have a new email address for Lenny. Probably we're supposed to write him "the right thing", whatever this will turn out to mean.
3) let's clarify what happens when calling the phone. If there's a machine, we can try to figure out what message we're supposed to leave; if someone pick up but do not speak, maybe we're supposed to say some kind of password before being able to start a conversation; and finally, if there's an active modem at the other end of the line, we can try to estabilish a connection to that modem and the computer behind it (or so I suppose, I know sh*t about networking and remote connections).

This Lenny thing seems really lo-tech and disorganized at first sight, but, I have to admit, it's strangely fascinating. Maybe we have a young, debutant PM with good fictional skills but some lack of tecnic experience; or maybe somebody is boldly trying to fool us into believing exactly that.
Or maybe I should stop overthinking and get some sleep. Smile

Hey, this is in the timewasters as well.
But all this talk about the SarahKiddo ARG...

The first two chapters of a book based on the ARG are up
www.saravella.blogspot.com
EDIT: Oop, make that www.saravellainvestigation.blogspot.com

O, and so its relevant:
I think that that's all we're getting for today folks. If I believe one thing about this, its that the PM for Lenny is a college student... I think we can expect rapid updates in bursts based on homework/free periods.
Just my experience, what with running one myself while at school

Just so we can have a record about things...
I wrote down the phone convo for Lenny
Len= Lenny, UE= unknown entity
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Len: Ok, so ever since I got that email last, I've been recieving these *really* strange phone calls from-- I don't even know *who*-- and every time they call, they speak really cryptically, and, then hang up. They're always talking about, well... :sigh: you'll get a chance to hear for yourself. My dad rigged this *thing* together that lets me record phone conversations, and I finally got them on tape... so, here it is.

Len, (breathing heavily?): Hello?
UE: cold... so cold
UE: (something like, "ik, urk")
Len: Hello?
UE: Hello! (faintly:) someone help
Len: Hey, you! Hey, don't hang up! Who are you?
UE: I don't know
Len: Wha...?
UE: Help me?I need help. HELP ME!
Len: Ok, ok, listen, calm down
UE: (weird voice... if Flea talked on the phone, it might sound like this:) survive (normal voice): evade, prevent (?), escape...
(weird noise)
Len: Hello? Hello!? :sigh: damn it

Crap! I just went to work for 4 hours, came back and all of this had happened! Waaaay too fast if you ask me. I desperately trying to understand what has happened so far, can anyone fill me in? 4 hours ago the latest development was the recorded phonecall.
