It's good to know I'm not the only one who misses playing the game. Lately, it's consumed my thoughts again. I can only think, I was having way more fun playing ILoveBees. I want to erase it all and play again. I miss skipping class to go running around town answering payphones. I miss marveling at how fast you guys figured all those puzzles out every Friday. I miss reading the boards nightly, looking at crazy theories and discussion.

It just makes me realize, we were part of something huge. If ARGs really take off, it'll be great to think that we were playing some of the first. 1903 in the film industry, indeed.

Here's to the next 4orty 2wo game, I'll see you all there.

Ditto to virtually everything here.

I know I've met a lot of incredibly cool people, far too many to list without missing someone and making them feel unloved, and I'd like to make it known that if anyone of you guys makes it to the bottom end of the world, Dunedin, New Zealand, you're more than welcome to hit me up for dinner somewhere.

And I intend to visit a lot of you guys when I do get to the US. Eventually... Very Happy

I know I've definitely been missing the adventure. Thank goodness for opportunities to still stay in touch. Maybe if we keep posting in the haunted apiary section on unforums, the game never will end. Right. Right? Sigh.

reunions:
Chicago Hivemeet May 13-15
NYC ARG FEST July 22-25

The game was truly unique.
Where it saught to build a community, up grew a family. A family of dedicated individuals. A diverse people who could coordinate, think, act and react with reason and feelings at heart.

As Cirrus pointed out to me earlier:

"Tell ya one thing, we may not be the best Halo 2 players, but we're definatly the best Halo 2 people.
Because anyone who blew off ILB, or ignored it, or thought it was stupid, missed the most gratifying experience in the world, and lost the chance to become friends with 1000 of the most wonderful people on earth."

And he couldn't be more correct. We've had our dramas like any other family, but we are also there for each other. Like Melissa, we take care of our people. When someone needs a sympathetic shoulder, a ticket, or whathave you. We are there. What other gaming experience can say they managed to create that? Not a single one.

No, I do regret some things I said, but not a moment of saying them.
If you know what I mean.

I can wholeheartedly agree with everything that's been said so far. Given, I'm sure no one reconizes me, as I couldn't really offer much that hadn't been said already, but still...

I never had the joy of answering a payphone as I'm quite young compared to most of you (not to mention, a Canadian in the country which meant no payphones, anyway) and I couldn't get the chat working, but I was still here from the beginning and never, ever regretted it for a single moment. Just watching what happened and figuring out the puzzles in my head (and smacking said head against the wall when I couldn't) was awesome. I'd really have liked to get to know you, by chat or otherwise, but it just never happened, which is the one thing I regret, now. I can't even go to the ARG-Fests due to my age and stuff. Maybe I'll borrow my friend's Xbox and Halo 2 sometime and see what all the fuss is about Wink

The other thing I'd like to note is the sheer kindness and caring out of everyone at Unfiction in general. This is, without a doubt, the most polite and all round nicest forum I've ever seen in all of my Internet travels. This is part of the reason I'll stay here for a long time to come, and participate (hopefully more frequently) in more ARGs. It just adds so much to the experience when the people you're working with aren't asshats all the time.

As for the game itself, it's more than I'd have ever expected when I started it. It's truly unbelievable the time and effort put into it by not only the players, but the PMs, actors, and whoever else worked on it, as well. I honestly would have never believed games like this even existed (at least not for free) but, hey; when you experience it first-hand, it's hard not to believe it. I actually felt emotion for the characters which is saying something if you knew me, personally. I still get chills when I listen to DreamOfTheRood's ILB theme song when Melissa falls back together.

And that's it. I've said I'll I want to say. All in all, I can't think of single thing I'd have rather done during that time than play ILB. It was really a one-of-a-kind experience

Well I can also add, I seem to have found a new home (for who knows how long), and it's nice whilst waiting for the next big ARG, to be able to chat with people, recall memories with people, and continue to build friendships from acquaintances... and when the next big ARG comes around, to work with many of the same people, and enjoy the experience collectively... Xbox Live seems to be the newest tool in being able to communicate with people across lands and waters, aside from text chats. XBL has become a personal tool to keep the friendships growing Smile we'll see how long the Halo 2 gaming lasts on Live Razz

I for one, am in and out, and at this time, more out than in... but it's great to be able to come on at any time and see ILB friends online Smile hehe

this has definitely been a community building positive experience! Definitely memorable for a long time

"Beekeepers Clan"

There are a few different "Beekeeper" Clans on Live. You should probably go HERE which is where most of the discussion about playing Halo2 online has gone on. The start of that thread is where a lot of folks posted their GameTags, but to get you started, mine is Ariock. I am not in a clan though (too much practicing/etc.).

See you online!

wow.. I dropped off this planet for months, never a stray thought aout a bee, or the op.. just today I ran across Goodbye.mp3 in my ILB folder (from the torrent, I believe) and wow.. it all came back, hard.. crushing, perhaps. heart tight in my throat and everything..

it was an experience, in the very strongest, and best use of the word..

to everyone, from the original thinkers at bungie for cooing it up, to 4orty2wo for pulling it off.. and more then anything, my greatest thanks to every last beekeeper. as The Op said.. you made the girl real.. for me, you made the game real, and no matter how foolish it may sound, I think Im a different person for it.

thank you

Laughing So very true. I've been trying to re-acquaint myself with the topics of discussion for the last week, since I've been away so long and missed you all terribly. Work and other pursuits have absorbed a lot of my time.

I think the turning point for me was when I was invited to a 24 hour party hosted by a Beekeeper and his roomie, and when the Beekeepers arrived that I knew well, talking to them reminded me how much I missed the comraderie and friendship.

So hello again, I've missed you all.
