Personally, I guess I don't know what we're even supposed to be solving for. The commas confuse me. If it was something like 6 = -0.309*s +tx and 6 = 0.95105*s +ty, then I would know how to go about solving such a problem. At first I thought I might be able to solve the equations in this manner, but then according to obvious, tx = 38 but on runes tx = 26 so that doesn't work. Maybe I'm just over thinking stuff.

 		Math was one of my majors in school, but it's been a while since I've messed with parametric stuff.

Basically what the clue is telling us is that each weird clue describes a curve.

For example,

-1.3090169943749474241022934171828*s + tx, 0.95105651629515357211643933337938*s + ty

could be written as

x(s) = -1.3090169943749474241022934171828*s + tx
y(s) = 0.95105651629515357211643933337938*s + ty

or
Quote:
x(s) = (cos(108) - 1)*s + tx
y(s) = sin(108)*s + ty


where x(s) and y(s) describe the x and y positions of the curve at time s. (tx,ty) is basically the starting point.

I need to find an online graphing calculator or something and try to plot a few of these curves (and assume tx=ty=0).

OK, I'm not sure how much sense that all makes, and I don't know how the number before the colon fits in, but that's what I'm guessing at so far.

 		Joe User's right - though my math teacher taught me to use dx and dy instead of use a t for triangle. (Unless we're dealing with time here.)

The big question is where the numbers to the side of each curve fit in. My guess is that it signifies the specific point in the curve at which the slope was identified. The trick, then, would be to solve slope for each of the problems, and line up the curves (since we have curves, instead of plotted points, we have our work cut out for us).

...I took Calculus too long ago. ;_;

...it's just backwards. If you break it up into groups of three, you'll notice that everything ends in either an h or an o. Flip it around, and use the keyword of hlovecraft to convert to letters. Then just add 42 to each number and convert once again to get:

he really seems to believe this stuff
and to be honest some of the evidence he provides is persuasive
but what do i know im just a helper
btw did you know perl has a function called reverse

...yep, he figured out what I did to his Jan Termin message. ^_^:;

I talked in the box about their "hacker friend", simon - in particular, I noted his love of ancient mythology and asked how exactly he roped them into this.

I guess I'll have to wait on that second part.
