Brainwave... Bungie HQ used to be in Chicago. (In a former girls' school which had been recovered from a crack dealer or something.) Zip code 60680, I don't have the full address. I'm going from a PDF of the Marathon instruction manual, and that's their support address.

Is going there a good idea or bad idea?

-- Steve does wonder if there's anything worth seeing there anyway. And if it'd be just inviting a mugging or ten.

I would definitely be up for a side trip to the old Bungie HQ. If we get there and there's absolutely nothing there, we'd just be reliving the glory days of driving 30-40 miles to answer a payphone that doesn't ring (or is locked inside a long-vacated dormitory). As far as the mugging thing, we're Melissa's army, we can take em Smile or not...

You drove 30 or 40 miles to answer a payphone that was ripped off the wall in a long-vacated dormitory?!?

man, what a dork...

The only thing that could be worse is if you got your wife and some guy you met at a favorites dinner when answering the only other payphone in Oklahoma to go with you.

Hehehe... <wink>

Heh. Sometimes all ya gotta do is ask.

I asked on the bungie.net forums if someone knew where the old Bungie offices were, and former Bungie community liason Matt Soell gave exact addresses including (because I jokingly asked) nearby pizzarias.

-- Steve also notes that the sound company that did work on Myth and Halo, TotalAudio, is not too far from one address. Wonder if they'd be interested...

Goodness, think of it ... what if we actually got the Bungie people who used to work in Chicago or the people at TotalAudio to join us? What if they let us do tours of the buildings? Bonanza!

You simply must wait around until you hear squealing tires.

Okay, so I had a dream last night about the Hivemeet. There were about 7 or 8 of us there, and we were at someone's house, playing Halo. Except it was a 2-d side-scrolling version of Halo. It was a territories game, because I remember standing on little squares to change their color. The team colors weren't red or blue or green either. There was a yellow with red polka dot team, another was green with white stripes, and I think there was a blue and purple zebra pattern. Very strange. Then we all decided to go to some park. It took us about an hour to drive there, and when we got there it was just a small patch of grass surrounded by factories and warehouses. We were all hanging out there for a couple of minutes when two gangmembers came up to us and tried to sell us batteries. Duracells, I believe. We declined, but they kept pushing us to buy them. So we left. We went to some restaurant, I don't even remember what kind it was. But when we got there, everyone was lagging. Yeah, lagging. We were all sitting at the same table, but we could see each other lagging for some reason. And that's about when I woke up.

That was an awesome dream.

I think it should be turned into an ARG Smile

(So that explains why their free server is so slow... It's actually us lagging in real life!)

Phaedra, if you're still reading this thread, count me as a maybe, but know it is a more firm maybe than you or others may be used to. Laughing

I'm all excited about seeing the Neo-futurists with some Beekeepers, as well as maybe catching some dinner with y'all... However, I just can't say anything for certain for the next 25 years, as I now have a 3 month old who rules my existence.

So, it would be definite, but I just can't be definite these days... I hope it is understood... I'm still hoping to bring the wife out too, but we'll see... But count me in as a maybe for now, and if I can firm that on up, I will do so as the day(s) approach(es)... Anyhoo... Just so join in the fawning and such that all are doing, I dig the website for the hivemeet too, and I am awed- NAY! shocked and awed- NAY! Shocked and Awed and Imprisoned by it's quality, especially by a flash newbie.

I'll tell ya what though... it's just a sad day and age when a man has a baby (ok so his WIFE has the baby) and just one little month later, some princess sweeps past him in posting counts and dwarfs his (previously) impressive valid post count... Rolling Eyes But I'm not bitter... no... (as DM devises Tom'N'Jerry-style traps for Phaedra to spring during Hivemeet Laughing )

Bring the 3-month-old!

No wait, there may be karaoke and you don't want the poor thing to be in therapy for the rest of her life. Sad

Quite.

Bring the wife! We need more girls!

Enslave Hire a sitter or something. Your wife probably needs a mini-vacation anyway.

Princess.

Hmm. I think I like that appellation almost as well as "goddess."

Rock On

Lol, let me tell you, with my first month of posting....if length counted, I would be an Unfictologist by now.

Shocked

*Phaedra decides to make Kali enter every room first and taste her food at the Hivemeet.

Yes, thank you. Mildly concussed, and my loyal, beloved car is totalled, but I am back to work and play and the occasional recreational torture of my coworkers, which brings me nearly up to the designation "chipper."

Well, as long as we're getting our own custom categories, consider me "Possible, With Financial Plausibility Under Examination." Razz
