I'm not sure what time I'll actually be there Friday, but count me in for stuff that evening if I get there in time, and for checking out the gameon exhibit on saturday/general shenanigans. I don't know about karaoke-my friend is doing a room party at the acen building, and I make it a rule to never miss it.

So you can't make it for sure, thebruce? Dang. I was going to PM you this evening to check, but I guess this'll do.

Still hanging on to the faint hope that something'll come through for you.

-- Steve promises to remember he has his camera this time. Honest.

thebruce, we gotta get a fireflies meeting together at some point, actually... and for once, we should all meet up in Canada, and party with you and jamesi, and um... well, you and jamesi! Laughing But for real, we should get together (not soon, cuz unfortunately, I'm using a lot of wife points already to just get a "maybe" for this hivemeet, but yeah...

*DM stops rambling, goes back to spec-ing about PPC

Yeah, we actually should, though it'd be tough on Sherpa I think. But not soon, alas; this summer's going to be busy for me, and I've pretty much burnt through my vacation days already with the Hivemeet, my birthday, and Christmas holidays. And I'm kinda blowing the ol' travel budget on the Hivemeet since I can't attend ARGfest.

You know Anton, that this whole time, I didn't know you were a canadian. So sorry to have left ya out... But yeah... we gotta get together at some point. And Anton, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, as I used all of my vacation time with the baby being born... But we'll have to keep this idea on the burner for later...

yeah I'm sure we'll all still be around these forums for a while Smile

it would be nice to set up a canadian gathering... funny thing is, it could go either way - open or exclusive Razz... everyone in the US is always getting together for special events, but no one ever does anything in canada... if we can set something up where there's lots of stuff to do, then I think it would be a great idea... and all those americans can get a taste of canada for once Wink hehe

but ya as for us, I met up with Steve recently for a smallish LAN party in London, and that was nifty, though short *cough* - me and my buddy were the last to leave cuz we expected to stay a lot longer... but it was great to meet bentllama from Bungie there too.

Anyhoo... we're in the same boat regarding vacation time... I always have 2 weeks pre-booked per year for volunteering at camps, which leaves me (officially) entitled to another 5 days... usually christmas and the odd friday I'm doing something on a weekend...

but let's definitely keep it in mind.

As for Chicago... I'm still working on it... it's not entirely ruled out, but right now it's still a no for me *sigh*

I don't expect there to be another strictly ILB-based hivemeet. I expect the next one will have to be at least a little broader --an ARG convention, perhaps.

No problem, DM. I guess it never really came up on the Fireflies discussions.

The LAN thebruce is talking about is written up here, mostly by thebruce as I was unconscious by then. We should hold something like that again; it was enormously fun even though attendance ended up softer than I'd hoped. (And I didn't get as much of a chance to just talk with bentllama as I'd hoped, but everybody else wanted to chat with him too.)

In any case, I'm still hoping that you guys can make it.

-- Steve's now working out the logistics of getting from the train station to the hotel at 10:40pm Thursday... but there's gotta be lots of taxis around, right?

Well, I suspect that there are at least a couple people (like me) who are still planning / working on attending, but just haven't been put on the guest list yet.

But we know Krystyn's busy. *hugs* Smile

OK, so I just spoke with someone at Ed Debevic's, and it looks like Friday evening she can certainly accomodate a party of our size, which looks be between 20 and 30, at this point.

Can I get some feedback in this thread on who can commit to this dinner?

Here's some more information, and I am thinking this will be around 7PM, on the 13th:
eddebevics.com wrote:
ALL AMERICAN MEAL - $11.95 Per person
Ed's idea of good ol' American fare. Your choice of a hamburger, cheeseburger, grilled chicken, grilled, or veggie burger, all served with fries. Enjoy our world's smallest sundae for dessert and keep the souvenir glass with our compliments.

THE ELVIS PACKAGE - $16.95 Per person
Ed made this one easy! Start out with two appetizer platters for your group. Choose from Kitchen Sink Nacho's, Cheese Quesadillas, Ed's Outrageous cheesy fries, atomic fries or onion rings. Then pick any entrée from Ed's regular menu and enjoy a shake, malt or dessert of your choice with your meal.
Not that hungry? Order the Elvis package without appetizers $15.95 per person

LITTLE EDDIE PACKAGE - $8.95 Per person (Not available Friday thru Sunday)
Each child can choose from one of the following kid's items, Hamburger Cheeseburger, Hot dog, Chicken fingers or Grilled Cheese. The little Eddie package also includes fries, a rice krispie treat and of course a world's smallest Sunday for dessert! Kid's get to keep the souvenir glass as a goodie prize!

PARTY FAVORS Ed remembers being a kid, so he sets the table with fun placemats, Crayons and balloons and Ed's hats!

ED SAYS "Don't even try to order this package if you aren't under 10 years old."
*2-forms of i.d. are required*

Ed's is a 50's-style restaurant where the waitstaff is in costume, and in character. They make real Cherry Cokes there, and have Green River as well. Their burgers and chili are good, and I personally like their malts quite a lot.

Please, report, crew members!

(And in case you don't take me seriously - it looks like I will need to put down my credit card for this reservation, so please be prudent about getting back to me, or you might very well be SOL on hanging out for dinner)

Ed's is here, by the by. Also, the Little Eddie package is not available to us, as much as we'd like it, but I liked the text, so I kept it in. Smile

Kali and I, of course, commit -- to whichever dinner everyone else wants.
