Good question.

Pre-breakfast scrimmage?
Post-karaoke insomniac marathon?

The anime convention hotel will rent us a TV for use in the sleeping room for $57.50/day. BTW, that's 50% off the usual rate, because of the anime convention. I'll assume 4 XBoxen, 4 players per XBox. We'll need 4 XBoxen and 3 extra TV's, assuming one TV in the room. That's $172.50 for the TV's, and we bring the XBox consoles and Halo 2 game discs. 16 people can play at a time. With 45 people on the guest list, we could play 16 at a time, or about 1/3 per round.

Dividing up the TV rentals among the players:
45 people: $172.50/45 = $3.83 each

If just 16 people want to play: $172.50/16 = $10.78 each

12 people (just 2 extra TV's): $115/12 = $9.58 each

8 people (1 extra TV): $57.50/8 = $7.19 each

The tvs in the room don't have AV if I remember correctly, just a heads up.

My friend has brought extra tvs and projectors to damn near every acen, no one really cares if you bring one yourself. Hell if you folks are bringing tvs, I'll bring along my Pong system-we can go retro in between rounds of halo ;p

Oh, I didn't think they'd care if we brought them ourselves.

I'm gonna be flying, so no TV for me.

I'll be honest with you guys, I seriously don't believe that the Hivemeet is conducive to a LAN.

I think the Hivemeet is what we make it.

That being said, I"m less interested in having a LAN party than I am in doing other stuff with ya'll. I think it would be interesting to play with everyone, just to be in the same room with everyone to play, but I do think it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as we have on XBL, just because of the hassle of setting it up, and finding places for people to play, etc.

I'm not going to NOT go, if we end up with a LAN party, but I certainly won't complain if it never ends up on the schedule. I think it should be a last resort sorta thing, if we have a chunk of time with nothing else to do during it.

Thank you for being more diplomatic in your approach than I.

I think a lan party can be cool, if we get together and just have a very casual lan party, without taking anything too serious ... 2 tv's should be more than enough, so people can play a little while the other can just hang around. Something very casual.

That's the way I pictured the LAN party, if we held one: Lots of sitting around, chatting, watching, and a few people playing. Slack time or nap time. I think that's why I pictured it happening at Krystyn's apartment or one of our hotel rooms.

I think a hotel room would be better, honestly; I don't think anybody's asked about having a LAN at Krystyn's, and I'm sure that she hasn't brought it up as a suggestion.

Yeah... I was just catching up on this thread and kept reading "krystyn's apartment... krystyn's apartment" and was thinking, "Does she know about this??" Razz

I'm sure Krystyn will have it all arranged by the time we get there. Incyr, just how many TV's do you have lined up, anyway? No need to bring more XBoxen than TV's.
