OK, here's my neato ID card. I've uploaded the raw PSD file to my web space. I grabbed a screenshot of the ILB DVD menu, hopefully I won't land in too much trouble... Smile

Ooo, pretty, rufo!

All the nametags have been nifty.

I think maybe mine should just be a big red button on a card, and when you push it, you activate a chip with a sound file of me laughing, or saying, "Betty Boop!"

... or not!

OK, I'll throw this out there: 12 noon at the Golden Nugget for a brunchy thing. It is NOT fancy, and the food is awesomely and reasonably priced. angelo and I went there when he was in town - so he can substantiate this.

The location I am thinking of is the one on Clark -- 2720 N. Clark, just below Diversey. There's a smallish parking lot in the back, otherwise parking's a bit of a pain, possibly. There's metered parking, and then zoned residential stuff to watch out for. If you get super-desperate, head north on Clark and at Diversey there's a big intersection with three streets. Continue on Clark (do NOT go to the soft right, as that's Broadway) -- immediately on your left there is the Century Landmark shopping center, with a big pay parking garage just past the main doors. Turn left into that garage, and it's a short one block walk back south to the Nugget. Like I mentioned before, that's where my live call payphone axon was. Woot woot. The parking rates are not terrible, and you could even *cough* head up to the movie theatre level and get your parking validated *cough* for a cheaper rate. Not like I would have *ever* done that whilst answering a payphone or anything. Crewmembers are honest and upstanding and do things up right!

So, how does that sound? Noon, Golden Nugget. Sunday.

I think there's a huge market for big red buttons that say "Betty Boop!" when you press them. I know I'd buy one.

I assume this brunchy thing is for Sunday? If so, I can't make it. Plane leaves at 10:40 am Sunday. Drink some bottomless coffee for me...

Grrr, sucko. I am sorry, Fenwicked! I am just thinking people might need to rouse themselves a bit more slowly. I have a feeling, whether people karaoke hard or not, that we're all gonna be up super-late Sat. night.

Oh, and as for CTA to the Nugget -- there's the Diversey bus (76), and the Clark bus (22, and there's also a 36), and the Brown, Purple, and Red lines all come close - you can hoof it or catch the Diversey bus from the train stop (they all converge there, on the same rails).

Tra la!

Well, it's official. I can't make it. My wife is on call this weekend (two people sick or coming out of surgery (so um, not able to take call) and therefore someone has to be home JUST IN CASE she gets called in, so that person can watch our baby. That person would be me, natch... (which is a good thing, cuz if it was one of you, I'd be a little creeped out, but no offense intended! Laughing) So um yeah... I live 25 minutes out of the city, and I won't make it... while thebruce would skin a yak with his bare hands to be able to make it from Canadaland... Crying or Very sad Sorry y'all.

As a small consolation, I will be picking up Anton P. Nym, a fellow firefly, from the train station tomorrow and depositing him at his hotel. It will be my only Hivemeet interaction. (But that's cool, cuz he's a cool guy, so if I'm to meet anyone, that's a good one!) I really wanted to meet Phaedra, Krystyn, CoffeeJedi (are you still going, dude?), and the rest if y'all... (no offense if I didn't mention your name, but those were the three that I've really connected to my ILB experience. Ok, I gotta go to bed. Have a great time, all... I wish I could join you. Take some pictures, will ya? That's an order from the captain of the SPARMY... Crying or Very sad

*sigh*

My girlfriend really wants me to go. She knows how much I've been wanting to do this.

I may not, though.

She's very sick, with an abcessed tooth. I just spent 4 hours at the hospital with her. She goes to an oral surgeon tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes. If she's recovering well by thursday night, I'll be on the friday train at 6 am for sure. If there are problems, well....

well.

Gotta pick some priorities.

With luck, I'll see you all at Fogo on Friday. With no luck, you'll have to eat a cow for me.

Sorry to hear that, mate. Best of luck. If you can't make, you'll be sorely missed, but some things are worth staying home for. Cheers.

Krystyn, I could do the noon (brunch?) at the Golden Nugget there. I'll still have a functional CTA Visitor Pass if all goes to plan and can just toodle up Michigan on whatever passes by.

Looking forward to meeting Dorkmaster tonight... and Union Station is a cool place to meet. It's a pity you can't make it for the rest of the Hivemeet, DM. I swear to take many pictures for the Hivemeet Flicr account.

ATDT, yeah, priorities are priorities... but here's hoping you can make it and help us pirranha-ise some hapless Brazilian livestock. (Or livestock prepared by Brazilian cuisine, anyway.)

To everybody else, I'm counting down T-60:00 to leaving my apartment and venturing on the Great Journey to Chicagoland. Can't wait!

-- Steve's almost as wound up as a kid on Christmas.

Noon on Sunday will be hard for me. I'm planning to go to Ikea on Sunday morning. Store opens at 10:00am. Depending on how long we'll stay there, I might make it a bit later than noon or not make it at all. It's probably safe to say I won't be there and I'll call you guys if we decide to go.

If we can find a plug, I'll be bringing my laptop, which is a beasty 17" and does a wonderful job of playing DVDs and audio.

Did I mention my laptop has, built in, 4 speakers and a subwoofer? And that it's loud enough to hear in a bar? *grin*

Sarah Kate's getting her extraction today, so there is hope for me going, though I think she'll probably not be well enough to get to toledo to take the train in on saturday. *sighs* And I was so hoping she could come meet you fine folk.

I haven't been this excited about something in a while. Can't wait to meet you guys. And I'm sad to hear about all those who won't be there now Sad.
