Umm tom, why are you posting something that we already know all about and was first found here without any explanation as to why?

I'm very sry about this post but I just read what Ryandrew said about Excalibur not being the sword in the stone. It was made in Avalon and given to the lady of the lake, but it was put in the stone until the worthy kind could pull it out. Excalibur IS the sword in the stone.

Shut up, Tom. If you know the answer, stop wasting our time and go and win yourself $10,946. Otherwise, zip it, until the unlikely event that you find something valuable to add.

Ohh really Barrowdowns? Fair enough, i stand corrected. Must of missed a part in the story. I take it the sword that was pulled from the stone was given back to the lady in the lake until Arthur grew up a bit more?

Actually the sword was given to Merlin who then gave it to Uther Pendragon, who abused its power and so Merlin stuck it in the stone so that it would be safe until Arthur was older. After the war with the saxxons and Arthur's death, lancelot threw it back into the lake.
