Soul Worth

The last time I saw this discussed was in the locked thread, and one or two mentions in the hiding room site, so here's a new thread.

I've just done the assessment 14 times in a row, and cannot find any rhyme or reason to achieving a perfect score.

I almost believe that the scores are given randomly from a set number of scores. I have had:
Worth: 55 Derivative: 34
Worth: 40 Derivative: 25
Worth: 50 Derivative 31
Worth: 65 Derivative 41 (twice in a row)
Worth: 60 Derivative: 38 (thrice)
Worth: 45 Derivative: 28
Worth: 15 Derivative: 9 (5 times in a row)

I wrote all my answers to the questions (didn't write full questions out, just key words) and if anyone is interested in doing a comparison, I can put them into a word document and post it up.

EDIT: After decompiling some, I am now of the opinion that the results are anything but random, but do seem to have the same results often. I'm investigating more. See my thread about the flash files.

I just re-re-read the posts again and the best guestimations were to click all links on the left, if that is what you are referring to, Psemmusa.
I did not see a true formula, or method, to achieve a higher value. Perhaps I missed it so if you care to quote it, I would appreciate it.

My best is 60/38 and I had to lie on the answers to get that so obviously I will do anything to get a tad higher.

Forgot this... If you were referring to the Golden Ratio for the coorelation between the numbers, sorry about that.

60/1.6=37.5

Continuation from 'a game in the vein of :K:?'

Quote:
SS Assessment

I've obtained the following soul/derivative scores from the SS assessment:

15/9
45/28
55/34
70/44
75/47

Has anyone received any others?

It seems that after 10 tries, I receive 15/9 every time. It's possible that I'll be able to continue reassessing myself after midnight. I'm using the time of receipt of my initial acquisition email as a benchmark for their timezone, which would mean midnight their time is 11am here (Sydney, Australia). [See note at end.]

Intuitively, it seems that the soul/derivative scores are functions of the number of 'correct' answers. The soul score appears to be directly proportional to the derivate score. I'm not sure how the imitation test (spiral tracing) is quantified though. Perhaps there's a specific 'threshold value', and if your tracing accuracy is above this, your answer is flagged as correct. I haven't encountered any other interactive questions - although one hope question required a choice between 'half-full' and 'half-empty'.

It seems logical that 15/9 would correspond to the minimum possible score. As there are only seven questions, I think it would also be reasonable to assume that the maximum possible score is either 75/47 or one notch higher.

As a previous user pointed out, the list of phrenological organs published in George Combe's Constitution of Man correlates exactly with the categories used in the SS assessment test. There appears to be a one-to-one relationship between category names and questions, meaning that that each category contains only one question. As there are a total of 35 categories (from Combe's list), there should only be 35 possible questions.

NB: It is also possible that you are prevented from reassessing yourself after you have seen all questions at least once. I created a list of (almost) all of the questions I had seen, expecting to only have around half of the 35 categories. It seems that I have actually seen nearly all of them.

There were two or three tests which I rushed through and didn't record. It is possible that the questions that I have flagged as 'unseen' were actually displayed during those rounds.

This would imply that users can only reassess themselves a finite number of times!

Hopefully, this is not the case. I don't particularly want to be stuck with a soul score of 15/9.

I've included my list of questions (categorised according to Combe) below:

continuing on from that I have put my list of 14 assessments into an html file, complete with questions, answers and scores, and I can concur that infact on my 10th assessment and onwards my score dives down to Worth: 15 Derivative: 9

someone more analytical than I could work out the weightings of each question from this list, possibly, if so we could all go about getting our perfect scores!!

First, I need someone to host it...?

Since we are trying to follow Jon, maybe the only "right" answers are those Jon himself would have given. Assuming Jon answered truthfully, we should learn as much about Jon as we can and generate the answers to the list of questions FROM HIS PERSPECTIVE.

The writing on the wall gave me this idea, since it suggests we are following in his footsteps. The only progress we have made so far is what he has already done. IMO, this is the next step.

To add:
the questions missing from that list were later found so the whole list ought to read:

and this is not taking into account the spiral that some people have gotten.

We must also keep in mind
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
that at some point we are bound to have the password to actually view Jon's actual contract,
and it may not be necessary to get a 100 ourselves.

Spiral Applet

Hi everyone,
Has anyone actually managed to trace the spiral all the way? I can never get past about 2/3rds of the image, my mouse goes off the applet.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Although, if you trace precisely, you hit your requisite 35 spots well before you hit the 2/3rds mark anyways.

~Thanks!

In order to maximise your score on the soul worth test, you should choose the following answers:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1. Amativeness - YES*
2. Philoprogenitiveness - YES
3. Concentrativeness - YES
4. Adhesiveness - YES
5. Combativeness - YES
6. Destructiveness - NO
7. Secretiveness - YES
8. Acquisitiveness - NO
9. Constructiveness, Alimentiveness - YES*
10. Self-esteem - NO
11. Approbation - YES
12. Cautiousness - NO*
13. Benevolence - YES
14. Veneration - YES
15. Firmness - NO*
16. Conscientiousness - YES
17. Hope - HALF-FULL
18. Wonder - YES
19. Ideality - YES
20. Wit - YES
21. Imitation - 70% accuracy
22. Individuality - YES
23. Form - YES
24. Size - YES
25. Weight - NO*
26. Colour - NO*
27. Locality - NO*
28. Number - YES
29. Order - YES
30. Eventuality - YES*
31. Time - YES
32. Tune - YES
33. Language - YES
34. Comparison - NO
35. Causality - YES

Some answers have been marked with an asterisk - these answers will result in zero points being added to your score. Choosing an alternate answer for these questions will result in points being deducted from your score.

In order to achieve the maximum score of 80/50, you must answer all questions correctly, and receive no asterisked questions. I calculated that, on average, only 10-11% of the generated tests will have no asterisked questions. You may need to take the test ten (or more) times in order to attain the maximum score.

It is not possible to score 100 on our version of the test.

Glad you posted that. I have come down to the same conclusion as you and figured out from the code (well, my brother and friends did) that we start at 50 and can get 5 points for every correct answer, -5 for every wrong answer, and on some questions you cannot get the 5 points and the best you can do is not "lose" points. You are correct also in stating that you need luck to get the 80/50 by getting all questions you can answer correctly and gain 5 points each. I have scored 80/50 and am standing pat with that until hopefully something happens on the 22nd.

I followed that guide to the letter, got no asterixed questions, and ended up with a Soul worth of 75.

Is there a time deduction aswell?

No, there's no time limit, but exegete missed an asterisk above.
For the Comparison question above the answer "No" will give you zero points. Was that one of the questions you had? Question
