heres a site that explains what directional couplers are, I believe the specific one were dealing with has to do with a cable line, still not sure about the specifics of how it would be used or if it could even be classified as hardware.

maybe what we should do is send the pdf file with the diagram of the coupler to the e-mail that the AI is using? since it says it needs help repairing the C7.6

"Our" directional coupler may be part of a cable line or, possibly, of a wireless communication device of some kind (a transmitter and/or receiver device via radio, microwaves, satellite...).
That would be consistent with the message Lenny received, since apparently the "entity" needs a repair in her/its communication module.
