Still Life hasn't stopped yet.
Hasn't even started. Just might Late this month or Early next.
If you're here on UF, just go up one level to see some active ones.
Looking for answers to your own questions is easier than you think on the internet
Forgot to add: I ran stegbreak on the file (jphide breaking) with a nine meg dictionary file including permutations. Nothing came up, and using detection and false positive supression in the headers, I didn't even get a positive.

Now that i have tried my first ARG, which has fascinated me, i wonder if there are any more out there?

Can you guys tell me if there are any other good WORKING ARG out there?

I know it doesnt apply for this forum, sorry.

Daemonworks Very Happy

Sorry - I just had to do it. You don't know me, but I just have to promote it every chance I get. Mostly because I don't want to let it beat me, which it is at the moment. It's not as flashy as oh, every other one out there, but it at least updates once a week. And I'm pretty sure that the story is just revving up again (we had a small break) so it would be a good time to join.

This message brought to you by the local addict of Daemonworks. Very Happy

I still think it will be March 10th. Yay soon.

I think this because someone on the Still Life forum asked about the March 10th date he'd seen as possibly the release date. Patrick, the site admin responded that he couldn't comment but that they had something in store for those on the still life forums.

This is why I think that the 10th is the date.

*shrug*

If I'm wrong, I'll eat my... no, if I'm wrong I'll cry. Been looking forward to this so much. Sad

game starting on March 10th ?

I will be selfishly happy if the game doesn't start til then. I have been away and I was really looking forward to playing this game. I hope everyone hasn't been going crazy waiting for it to start. There is just no upside to waiting for a game.

WOW! The page was updated!!!!
Not much happening, really, but the main page is different.
In fact
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
you can see it in different languages. Anyone willing to check if the mispellings, odd gramar and incomplete sentences run across the languages?

And from the Still Life website.
Looks like the game *we'll* be playing is called "Still Life: Prelude"

Quote:
Congratulations!

You are about to participate in an exiting new project designed to enhance your enjoyment of the Still Life adventure game coming April 2005 for PC and Xbox.

In a game with as much atmosphere and history as Still Life, there are many varied and interesting aspects which there just isn't time to explore in the main story, and so this online component, called Still Life: Prelude, is designed to enable you to experience more of that world. You'll meet Special Agent Victoria McPherson's FBI friend Claire Ashby, her father District Attorney Patrick McPherson and her future boyfriend Richard Valdez, all of this while working to solve a gruesome series of murders that takes place before the events of Still Life.

The Still Life adventure game is a complete story experience in itself, of course. Still Life: Prelude also tells a complete story. You can choose to play only one or the other without feeling like you're missing anything. But if you play both, you'll find that each story makes the other one even more interesting.

Here's how it works. In Still Life you will take the part of two characters: Private investigator Gus McPherson, in the late 1920s; and his granddaughter, FBI Special Agent Victoria McPherson, during December of 2004. In Still Life, you will be shown these characters and their environments, and you will be able to direct their movements and select their dialogues. Still Life: Prelude offers you something a little bit different. You will be playing Victoria McPherson only, and instead of watching her move through streets and corridors, you will be seeing what she sees every day as she works from her desk, investigating, gathering information and puzzling through clues in a race against time to prevent a killer from striking again. As you and Victoria do this together, you'll have to deal with the Press, your supervisor, trouble with friends, and a mysterious ally.

All of this is going to happen on Victoria's desktop, through journal entries, news reports and email interaction. Remember: You'll be Victoria's eyes and hands, so you'll be opening her journal every morning, responding to her email and piecing together the clues that will bring a killer to justice.

Good luck, Special Agent McPherson.

Nothing really new, but I'm interested to see how they direct them to Lombartech.

*********EDIT********
Gentlemen (and women)
The game has begun

EDIT 2--
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I just finished day one-- solved the Kimberly Wilson case after a LOT of guess and check. I was particularly proud of cracking the code to the FBI database.
All of this seems to NOT be going in real time, but a pace-yourself adventure. Oh well, on to day 2!

What is the deal with "You will play this game. You will perform this action, that action, and the other. Then you will be done. Thank you."
?

I've made it to day 3 without any real difficulty. I think this is set up to be fun and challenging, but not so difficult that people cant really get into it. I know I've had a lot of fun playing so far.
edit: I'm on 4 now still fun stuff, and it's getting a bit more difficult. Still not hard for an ARGonaut though Wink
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Heh. I like the little hint on Day 4 for Monk's missing guy. Roman King = Caesar

edit AGAIN: Ok, I've finished week 1

I can only assume that it will be important later on in the game. The login section is bound to be used.

Either way, this game is so much fun! But I'm having trouble IDing the girl from Monks e-mail, can someone help me out?

Edit: Ah, i got it. I was being far too specific. Rolling Eyes

Did you notice the corporate registration page on Lombartech is a bit different in the other languages, esp. German? They still don't seem to work, though.

Going to boot LibertyOS now. Smile
