WOW!!! Gotta love it. Observations on my point.

1. The music is remiescent along with the driving scenes of Chronos, especially "The Ride" section at the end. This bit is much creepier.

2. Abo a little past halfway, (36 seconds in,. right side) tne of the signs up above is TAITO in blue and white. That ones for me.

Taito is an arcade game manufacturer. Their biggest entry into the game field was Space Invaders. They have a LOT of games out there.

Sente is also the name of a game manufacturer, as well as Syzygy.

If nothing else, I'm always a freak show when it comes to older game trivia.

I am in.

I am excited.

Message to the game masters, I am so wanting of that video music when done Smile

On the word being transcribed as "sudden", I'm hearing an "s" sound as in "silence"....I know it's not "silence" (using it as illustration only).

ETA: And I'm hearing "other side of the current" instead of "curtain"....

I can get USA today tomorrow and the New York Sun. I'll scan anything I find and post it, unless somebody else beats me to it.

It's not a Chinatown; it's probably somewhere in Japan (I can't fathom any non-Japanese city that has such a huge Japantown). Here are just a couple of screencaps with signs in Katakana:

I can pick up LA Times if I remember. Will have to kick myself to keep it going.

Taito is definitely Japan. I am trying to remember what city they were in.

Here is a link to all the games they made.

I am trouting myself, but there are too many arcade game references going on here.

(and I am stoked for having my name and other things in a Taito game or two Smile

but anyhoo, game links.

Correction: definitely Japan, or the like. Japanese symbols everywhere if you watch is carefully...
Besides, everyone is driving on the left side. That narrows it down Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, and maybe Singapore, Thailand, or Nepal.
Which side of the road do they drive on?

Alright! Looks like this is finally kicking off. *puts on ARG gear* Time for what's sure to be several crazy months. Very Happy Now that that's done.

The video creeped me out when I watched it. To me it sounds like "curtain" and not "current" at that one bit, but it's so hard to hear so I'm really not sure.

I love the hints into the backstory this provides as well.
We can surmise that if they are not making a reference to some sort of cutural unconsciousness, that at one point in history we were more or less the same group as whoever is speaking.
Also we can infer that either there are people in our culture researching with these groups, OR that -we- are the ones being studied, due to the alienation line.

I'd hypothesise that we are dealing with humans here, from a lost civilization that once interacted with, and shares roots with our own. While we seem unaware of their existance, they have been studying us in detail for some time.

I'd go off on wild specs that the 'perplex city academy' is the place of this study, and that the tours and gatehouses that have been referenced refer to scientific missions crossing into our society, and the places where these happen. Heightened security there due to the cube loss? A renegade faction taking the cube and melting into our world? Sente opening up the existance of the academy to try and get it back?

Probably no real insight there, nothing profound, and all probably obvious, but fun to think about.

Also, I can hear both curtain, and current. But also freaking crane if I try. I am never gonna know what word that is for sure.

Due to the stylisitc and the words spoken, I would figure now some of the philosophies in the Ron Fricke films will come into play.

Kooyanisqaatsi: alienation of man from his roots
Baraka: religion and world view
Chronos: playful study on time

Aw, man... Based on the newspapers, it looks like it's going to be US based. Not that it's a big deal, but I hope they bring a little of the action to other places (like Canada ^.^). After all, we already know they can do it, with the postcards appearing in various countries and all.

Another thing: How exactly was this found? The topic creator said to click the Sente signature, but I can't detect a link anywhere on the page that we haven't found, yet.
