Why did Sarah say "Phase 2"? Working on the basis that we are being studied, is it possible that either the Academy/Sarah/or her team have actually been working on research titled "Civilisation and Late Stage Urbanisation, A Consumer Transition" (the implied Phase 1).

Most of the video/overdub could have been made as a part of this, and it would fit pretty well with the idea of culture shock.

Spec:

It may have started as a simple write off for a great pair of shoes, (I like to think they were Chuck Taylors... but somehow I doubt it) and ended up being some kind of eye opening and life-changing experience for all those involved.

Maybe an event that lead to someone taking the cube and hiding here in our culture for some reason or another.

[edit] No luck on the online ads, but I could've missed 'em. OTOH it may not be a classified ad. It could be an ad in the paper or a news story. It's also possible that it is in the classifieds, just not the online addition.
