Frequency of puzzles cards Sorry if this is somewhere else. I did a search and didn't get any results so...
Just wondering whether anybody has done any work to see what distribution ratios the puzzle cards seem to be getting distributed with.
I.e. relatively how many cards of each number appear to be out there in the wild.
Dunno, just thought that it could be used as the basis of a puzzle somewhere, sometime, so might make interesting reading.

I doubt it's the basis of a puzzle but we've been told silvers arrive one in every ten packs-however I'm not sure I trust that. Ollie bought at least 167 packs and only has four.

In any case, 320 packs for a full set of silvers? Ouch.

Don't forget, you can always spend £50 on ebay on a silver card if you fancy.

Nah, I'd rather the excitement of watching my "Jigsaw" duplicate pile grow and grow.

I've bought 12 packs, and I've got 3. So does that make me extremely lucky?

Yes, by a factor of more than 10!
This certainly seems a good business model for a commercial ARG, given all the obsessive collectors out there. Well all right, myself included!

I am new to this posting malarkey! I was wondering, how are we going to know when the next phase of cards have been released? Will the original 266 cards still be produced and distributed? Will Firebox list them as Wave 2 packs?
I looked but could not see so I am sorry if this question has been posed elsewhere.

I'm sure there will be quite a bit of fanfare when the next wave of cards is released.

There are actually 66 cards in the first wave, and we're assuming 66 in the second as well. There are 266 cards total in the first "chapter" of PerplexCity (i.e. finding the cube). If all goes well with chapter 1 we've been told there will likely be further chapters in the story.
The second wave of cards will be sold separately from the first wave. I presume the first wave will continue to be sold as well, but the cards won't be mixed up in the same packs (which is nice for collectors). I have no idea how they'll list it on Firebox, but I'm sure they'll make it clear somehow.

Um I have 7 silvers and I bought approx 49 packs, so that makes it 1 in 7 for me.

I double checked, what i bought, and have 16 packs, with 3 silvers to date, which is 1 in 5 1/3.
On ollie's and my experience then i reckon you should be prepared to pay between £13.50 and £17.50 (including P&P) to buy a silver on ebay. Any more than that and you are likely to do better buying new packs from firebox. Particularly given that you get an additional 31-41 cards that you can trade...

I think its reasonable for people to pay a little more than this given the unpredictability of buying packs - you could easily spend 20, 40 pounds and get bugger all silvers for it, luck of the draw... (Mind you I /would/ say this as I have an auction including a silver card up at the moment!!)
Plus, the closer you come to completing your collection of available cards, the less likely of you getting the one or two cards you need, meaning you have to factor in the time/cost of trading to get the card you need into the equation.
The thing which interests me about the frequency is - are all cards of the same colour available in the same quantities? It strikes me there are a lot more Shuffleds and TLPs about than 13th Labours and Elucidates..... If some silver cards are /ultra rare/ then all of us obsessive collectors could be in trouble!

Hmm, that might just be co-incidence. It'd be extremely unfair if that was the case otherwise!
The distribution of the cards I've bought is as follows:
red 20
orange 25
yellow 17
green 17
blue 8
purple 8
black 3
silver 1
But this is quite a small sample. (It doesn't divide by six because I received a pack with only 3 cards in it - which i was sent an additional free pack for).
The distribution of people with doubles for swapping on PerplexCityTrades is as follows (taken from the buzmantest profile):
red 484
orange 476
yellow 403
green 389
blue 150
purple 145
black 43
silver 12
Although this is skewed by the fact that it's only counting the doubles that people have, and that you can only register that you do or don't have a double - not how many you have.

Just for more data (if anyone wants to analyze it)
11 reds
11 oranges
8 yellows
8 greens (+ 1 freebie from fb.com order my sis made)
4 blue
4 purple
1 black
1 silver
Wow... that's odd... I've never counted them before, interesting distrubution, note that's only 8 packs, I'm gonna get more tomorrow from playlounge if i get a chance...

Well as time goes by i feel more and more unlucky with my lack of silvers, from my 45 packs:
53 reds
51 orange
52 yellow
45 green
30 blue
23 violet
15 black
1 silver
Glad we have trading!
