What's special about Krystyn's duke? Aren't all dukes that same?

Hey I use "The Duke" as well. Or as my college friends and I referred to it, the "Man-Sized Controller".
We had 2 man-sized and two s-type... there were always intense arguments over who got to use the man-sized.
Unfortunately I seem to have lost one of the man-sized controllers in my last move...

Sorry for that ... I just read that thread you were saying you still played with the duke!
I never actually tried the duke. I bought my xbox with the S controller already. I really like the S controller. Can't really think of a better one, since the Super NES.

hmmmm. Did I imply any meaning other than that big old xbox controller? I'm wondering if I meant something else that I don't know in the English language ... If so, I'm sorry! Not intentional ...

LOL!
No, Water, you're doing just fine.
It's just the idea of Krystyn being shy and reserved that caught me.

Haha, I am totally cracking up now. I was just making a joke that I felt shy since everyone was talking about my duke, and it just sounded like such a personal thing.
I always liked that controller just fine, but I do have to say that the firmer sticks on the newer s controller make things so much better for me. I feel like I've been playing with a handicap this whole time.
Back on topic, I really should switch out the cables/cords on the new Box, since I was just lazy and popped the new console into the old one's spot, and connected up the old connector, cat5, and power supply. Lazy, lazy. And, apparently, dangerous!

Now I'm feeling shy ...
I still have to check my serial number and everything. It's been a while I don't get close to my xbox ...

Bah, I was never a fan of the giant Xbox input terminals. They're even worse than the Dreamcast controllers. (Don't get me wrong here. I LOVE my Dreamcast, just not the controller) I've used the S the entire time I've had my Xbox. The best controller though, by far, in the history of video games has got to be the Gamecube's. Especially the Wavebird. That thing is just a work of art. And completely intuitive. I went to one of those "Cube Clubs" about a month before Gamecube came out, and the instant I picked up the GC controller I knew every button. It required no thought whatsoever. It's a beautiful thing.
But back on topic (Sorry, Phaedra) I tried to order a replacement cord on Xbox's site, but when I put in my serial number and mfg date it gave me some crap about the information not matching what they have on file, or something like that. Anybody else have this problem?

My xbox needs new cables. I hope they get here before it explodes violently and destroys my house, or develops self-awareness and takes over, or something.

Haha, I didn't get that fat Lite Brite version!
I got a slim and trim one, like the old one. (my box was made in 7.03)
Only difference is a lip on the console side plug that prevents pushing it into the box too far.

Mine was made in 8/02 but for some reason when I went on the site to get the new one sent to me, it said my box was unaffected and pretty much said to piss off.
Which is odd, because isn't the recall date 8/03 and lower? Wth.

Just found this on Xbox-Scene.com (great website for those who have never seen it...):
Great site indeed!
I still didn't order mine. After seeing how big this new cord is, I'm having second thoughts! It's as big as Krystyn's duke controller!!
I didn't need one for my xbox, but I ordered one for my dad's.
I don't know, I can't play Halo with the little controller. The game just seemed to be designed for the big one, and the sticks on it seem to be less...imprecise, maybe?

Yeah apparently some people received the slimed down one. Lucky you!
I got three of the Ultra-Phatty power cords.
Betanews did an article "Xbox Users Question Power Cord Recall" in which MS responded about the user's questions.
Betanews wrote:
Xbox users across several forums including Xbox Scene are questioning Microsoft's motives for replacing just the power cords to their gaming consoles, rather than recall the entire unit. Some claim the new cords appear to be quite a bit larger than the older ones, and include a circuit breaker within the plug.
"The real problem is the Foxlink power supply. There have been numerous reports of 'loose power connectors' in Xboxes, and the cause of this is that the solder joints on the [power supply unit] have actually broken where the connector mounts to the board, which can result in the XBox not powering on, or possibly even sparks, smoke, and fire," one user wrote, calling the power supply a "timebomb."
Others claimed that owners of older Xbox units were receiving a different sized cord than those with newer devices. "If the 'power cord recall' is just to stop the [older units] from starting a fire, why are newer machines getting replacement power cords?" another user asked.
To its defense, Microsoft denied any reports of power supply or soldering problems. In a statement to BetaNews, Microsoft reiterated the purpose of the recall was a "precautionary measure" and done for safety reasons.
"The replacement power cords are designed to protect consumers and their Xbox consoles from rare electrical component failures. The cord this consumer received is designed to shut off power to the Xbox if it detects an electrical condition called 'sustained overvoltage.' This rare condition can be caused by things like downed power lines in a wind storm or faulty wiring in a house," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
As to the issue of different sized replacement power cords, Microsoft said "not all cords that we supply to program participants will look the same. Which type of cord is shipped depends on the date the console was manufactured and the country where it is used."
