those are the official alpha kits estimated at 25-50ish % of the final power of the console.

Irony aside, I'm curious to see what the beta kits can do

Sorry I haven't been posting info here lately but after E3 I was kind of disappointed and I felt like MS got bitchslapped by Sony. But today I find this... and it makes me happy....

Xbox360 High-Definition Videos
Microsoft released some trailers of Xbox 360 games in the Windows Media High Definition Video (WMV HD) format.
No more shacky footage from E3 videos, these are coming directly from the source, in full HD ... and available directly from Microsoft.
There are videos of: Call of Duty 2, Condemned, Dead Rising, Demonik, EA Compilation E3 2005, Final Fantasy XI, Frame City Killer, Full Auto, Ghost Recon 3, Kameo, Madden NFL 2006, NBA 2K6, NHL 2K6, Quake 4, Saint's Row, TestDrive Unlimted and The Darkness.

You can download these trailer from microsoft.com.
Please note that these files are large and will require a powerful PC to play smoothly.

Why'd you feel like that? I thought MS came off fairly well as opposed to Sony at E3.

because of the technical specs of both machines. PS3 on paper looks better than the Xbox360, though it all depends on your point of view as you can tell by the link provided in a post over on the PS3 discussion thread.

Check out this game called Prey for X360. It uses the Doom3 engine and it looks sweet! Take a look at the video they have! One of the best X360 videos I've seen ...

I'M BACK!!! (I bet you didn't even know I was gone)

here's some old stuff but since no one has posted it or said anything about it....

Xbox 360 set to cost around $300; final pricing decision within months
From GamesIndustry.biz:
GameIndustry.biz wrote:

Speaking to TheStreet.com, Allard said that he was "not sure" about the final price point, with a decision on pricing still "probably about two months away" - but confirmed that the price would "be in the neighbourhood" of the $300 price tag of Xbox at launch.
Regarding the exact date on which the Xbox 360 will arrive, Allard refused to be drawn - sticking to the oft-repeated games industry mantra of "when it's done" and stating that the full logistics of the worldwide launch have yet to be worked out.

Xbox 360 Kiosk, Play and Charge Kit and Rechargeable Battery Pack
From gokis.net
Quote:

Some new images/scans have appeared on the internet. It's probably coming from information that has been or will be sent to resellers.
First there's the Xbox 360 kiosk with a 23" HDTV LCD screen posted on gokis.net. It will be available in gamestores around the world where it will allow people to try out the Xbox360 console and games. The image also informs us people will be able to bring their mem card and download content from the kiosk.

Click the pic for larger view.

From playerone.be:
Quote:

Then there's the 'Play & Charge Kit' and 'Rechargeable Battery Pack' posted on playerone.be.
The 'Play & Charge Kit' (left) will connect the controller with the Xbox360 console and recharge the battery while you'll still be able to use the now wired controller to play - very useful if your battery runs out in the middle of the game.
The 'Rechargeable Battery Pack' (right) will connect directly to a powersocket.

Xbox 360 to Feature Fonix Voice Technology
From TeamXbox.com:
TeamXbox.com wrote:

Fonix Speech, an operating division of Fonix Corp., an integrated communications carrier providing telecommunications services and value-added speech technologies, announced an agreement to continue to deliver Fonix voice command technology to the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft.
"By incorporating Fonix's speech recognition technology into our Xbox 360 development kit, game developers can give players a fun and natural way of interacting with their games." said Brian Schmidt, program manager, Audio and Voice Technologies, Microsoft.

Play.com Leaks European Price and Date?
From computerandvideogames.com:
Quote:

The first indication of what Microsoft's price and delivery strategy for Europe appears to have been unveiled on online e-tailer Play.com.
In the first online product listing for the Xbox 360, Play.com states that the unit will set you back a quite staggering £399 and be available from November 29 of this year.

399GBP (~590 EUR) sounds a bit high and I doubt Microsoft wants to do the same mistake again as with the Euro Xbox (Launched at 479EUR in Europe compared to only 299USD in North-America. In europe a huge drop in price to 299EUR followed only weeks later due very low sales).
J. Allard said the Xbox 360 would launch around 300USD (which is only about 245EUR or 165GBP) in North-America so 590EUR for Europe would be a bit extreme.
As Microsoft certainly didn't decide the final retail price ... play.com probably lists it at 399GBP as max. price for the pre-orders. The date on the other hand is more probable.

Yes. That scene with the two kids is pretty disturbing! I love the whole style! From wall-walking to the bizarre scenery and weapons! That "balrog" with machine guns looks pretty cool! Cool

It's coming to PC and 360. The video is supposed to be PC, but I don't think it would look any different on the 360, considering 360 is more advanced than any PC on the market today ...

I was wondering where our official 360 poster was hiding!

Yeah, I don't think there will be this huge price difference between other markets. It's the first time a company will try a global launch. It will be pretty disappointing if they can somehow launch at the same time on the big 3 markets, but with this huge price difference! I'm only hoping it stays under U$300 for the basic package ...

Let me do Grifter's job a bit, since he's been so busy lately!

Here are some pics of the accessories that should be included with the 360. Don't know if it's true, but I'm wondering how you connect an optical cable for 5.1? I hope you don't have to buy any HD pack like with the xbox ...

And here are some PD0 Impressions, with some good info. Maps larger than all halo2 maps combined?? Wow! And I thought Containment was huge already! The cool thing is that the maps are designed for 50 players, but areas are locked, based on the number of players. The solution to spawn camping is pretty sweet as well! The way they handle voice chat seems adequate. I'm not a big fan of proximity voice! On halo2, it's only cool on custom games, but with 50 players, we could have all beekeepers in one team anyway!

All in all, I think PD0 will be the killer app for the first gen games for the 360. That and maybe Gears of War.

Thanks WATER!! U da man.

Hideo Kojima Expresses Doubts About PS3 Development
From TeamXbox.com:
Teamxbox wrote:

Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, has pronounced himself on the development of next-generation games. Speaking to Boomtown, Kojima discussed Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 development, saying:

My impression is, for PS3, Sony is aiming for a very high level. I'm not sure if everyone can live up to that high standard that Sony is expecting. So if everyone is expected to meet that high level, I am not sure that every creator, every publisher will be able to meet these high expectations. For Xbox 360, it's a little bit more down to earth, more realistic so people maybe can join easily to start creating on the 360.

Hideo Kojima's masterpiece, the Metal Gear Solid (MGS) series, is highly acclaimed worldwide, with its breathtaking graphics, profound stories, intricate human drama, original game design and superlative gameplay.

Kojima also compared the three next-generation consoles from Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony, making an analogy with "dinners".

Xbox 360 will still be a special dinner so you might go there two or three times a month on the weekend or something. Revolution is the kind of great dinner that you have everyday at your home. What I want to emphasize is that all three are dinners meaning that they have a salad, they have a soup and maybe have a dessert but they are a little differently, maybe other dinners have two salads or two appetizers or maybe extra coffee on top of that. The point is that they are all individualistic dinners. So if they are all dinners, like a steak dinner, the choice is up to the users and the game designers at the same time.

Peek at a next-gen invoice: November 2nd and games at 60USD?
From joystiq.com:
joystiq.com wrote:

Saurabh Agarwal sends good tips. Here's an example — a first hand account of what the EBGames folks know about the 360. Whether these tidbits are "final" or not is another question. Saurabh writes…

I was just at my local EBGames store here in Pittsburgh, PA, and the guy at the counter showed me this print out he just got with all the release titles, dates, and prices for the games for the XBOX360!!!

The majority of the games are slated for release on 11/02/2005 with a few on the sheet slated for within a week after.

The games included FIFA 2006, Tiger Woods, and many others (did not see a Halo though…which leads me to suspect it will come out when PS3 comes out).

Keep in mind that this is still just a rumor but from all that I've seen you can expect to the see the Xbox360 in early November.... say around November 2nd.. Smile

Sweet!

Early (12 days) birthday present for me! Woohoo!

Yeah, mine's already pre-ordered. I'm just hoping that the launch titles have some decent games. Although if PD0 and Gears of War are two of them, and the rest are of comparable quality (although I think those are going to be on the high end of the scale), I don't think I'll have anything to worry about...

*sigh*

Is it october yet?
