[new spec ]
what if the trout ad is telling us something we've discarded as trout that has been brought back up isn't trout

it says a pet of great signifigance possibly the pms reading the post and trying to direct our search in some way

e.g start from the beggining and review everything (except maybe the e values) Shocked

and maybe we will find something new

I did have a good laugh, but, I dunno... At this stage I don't find that kinda stuff very productive, really. But yeah, it was funny and clever Wink

Hey Guys – just wanna say am loving this – Virgin poster here – have been lurking with Mima for about a week now – just some patterns I noticed (hope these mean something and I'm not wasting space here!)

1) Looking at all but the trout ad – notice the bolding changes.
USA Today – LOST. The Cube. Reward Offered.
NYSun – LOST. THE CUBE
London Times – LOST
Could be no. of words eg. 5, 3,1 or sentences which would be 3,2,1 to give? No of words in CAPS also changes

2) Trout Ad vs USA Today – wording in same pattern
The Cube vs A Trout
an object vs a pet
city vs group
technological vs biological

Any specs on this?

Looks like the ad is just for buying old copies of the Times for nostalgia purposes or whatever. Just worded strangely.

OOG me thinks.

Edit:

Don't just have to buy back issues of the Times. Other papers are available. Doesn't change the OOGness of it all though.

Perhaps this is the blurb from the ads so far?

Aren't we missing the words"Lost" and "reward offered"? Without an indication that the Cube is missing the first sentence seems incomplete. Perhaps there is -something missing- from before the first sentence as well.

Wow... only two real ads and the thread is already 12 pages? Yikes. Just my 2 cents, but I think that the newspaper ad information, in the long run, is going to be MUCH easier to read if we have ONE new thread per newspaper ad. Anyone agree? I'm having shudders imagining a 75 page thread by the middle of March.

no, we need to be able to make links between the papers without forgetting which thread you last posted in

yeah, a single large thread is ok.

at the mod's discretion, when we hit a turning point somewhere, maybe it can be broken into more threads.

I think as a pattern is established, there will be less to say about the ads, and more to say about what the ads are telling us.

I think we may need a [SPEC] thread that is separate from this [UPDATE] one. There is a lot of 'chatter' in this thread due to the fact that nothing exciting is happening yet.

I seriously doubt they would leave any kind of precise message in an ad, since the typists can't even spell a web address properly. It's a miracle they didn't put a (.) on the end of the incomplete sentence. Sheesh.

I like the idea of piecing it together and revealing the story though - so far they do not seem to run on from each other.

And as for the ad above it... it does seem weird, but it's probably nothing.

I agree, Worker. This ARG may be taking a while to kick off, but it feels like we're spinning our wheels pretty hard already.
