When you call it refers you to www.mysteryshoplink.com and asks you to wait for a representative to talk to you. I just hung up at that point.

That phone number leads to a on hold message leading to http://www.mysteryshoplink.com which is definitely OOG.

I just wonder how much that specific clue is/was like a paper plate.

On the original quote "hidden" page , there is a part that is screen, and print. So to show the rest you had to Print Preview, or well, print the page. So this could suggest that the online version is the screen, and the print version has something hidden.
Quote:
"I can no longer trust that which I witness. I shall not put stock in images lit up before me".
To me that would mean something like the online version isn't holding what we need.
Quote:
"I MUST HOLD IT. I must have it in my bare hands"
AKA get the print.
But other then that from what i've seen on the online version:
One of the divs is named furniture, so that made me wonder if there was a furniture ad or something of that sort. But nothing really stands out, besides an OOG classified furniture ad.

Yeah, it could have been specific to that particular clue but I feel that if you have the physical paper you are sure not to miss anything.

the word 'stock' suggests maybe looking in the stock quotes. Others pointed out an attention to consumerism. random thought.
Rochester is just fFar enough away to not carry the latest issue of the sun at every news-stand. I'm working on getting a copy tho.

Can anyone with a paper copy of the NY Sun look at the top of page 14 (Calendar)? I'm looking at a (low-res) online version and the numbers at the top don't make any sense to me.
Edit: never mind. Zooming in a little helps a lot

Well, it appears that the online version is the full paper. It looks like it has all the sections intact. Multiple people including myself have had a good look through it and can't see anything related.
I don't think that the advert would be completely hidden as it'd defeat the point of spreading the news of Syzygy to a wider audience and only we'd be able to find it.

so, are you suggesting as others have that whatever it is might be in tomorrow's paper? Ya think President's day would cause printing delays?

It certainly sounds like a reasonable guess given that we haven't found anything. Oh well, it's not too bad a loss, and it would mean we get two papers to look at in two different countries, sounds cool to me

According to the NY Sun's website, their classifieds section is closed on monday, feb. 21 (click on "Place a Classified Ad" right underneath the paper's logo on http://www.nysun.com to see this for now). They also list the normal deadline for placing an ad on tuesday as monday by 11am.
I suspect the PM's were planning on placing the ad on monday the 21st. They've already pushed back the start date of the game, so I'm sure they're plenty busy right now getting everything in place. As a result, anything that can be put off until the last minute probably has been. An 11AM deadline in NYC is much later in the day in London, so it's not like the PM's would have had to wake up early or something to place the ad. I suspect we'll see a classified in tomorrow's paper.

On the "On The Town" page there is an article about an event that was held at the Rose Center for Earth and Space, which is a giant glass CUBE building in NYC. I am just spec'ing a connection here. Any takers?

certainly a modern marvel. but .. someone stole it? what is this, Carmen San Diego? I'd be pressed to think that was the clue.
But i guess i mostly wanted to make a carmen san diego reference. anything is plausible. some more than others, tho.
