Furthermore, they (who ever wrote the article) would call the Receda Cube by its proper full title atleast once before just refering to it as the Cube.

As i previously mentioned, I think we are still waiting for the first section. That may refer to it as the Receda cube also.

Lastly, it is also very unlikely that they would switch back and forth from calling the Receda Cube and the Cube, that is a very incosistant way of writting that is atypical of press releases and newspaper articles.

Have to disagree with that I'm afraid. I've seen many press releases from my own company which follow this exact format.

However, in the interests of camaraderie and as this is a moot point right now, I'm happy to concede that they belong at the start Smile

well you always get references to the item/place/person in its full name in the first instance, the a abbrivation in the next part...eg:

Andrew Williams suffered a nasty accident when a driver hit him while crossing a road. Andrew suffered a broken leg...

Seriously I don't want to get into a big debate about this as I really don't think its that important right now (!!), however I agree with you, but I still think that the section we currently have which mentions 'Receda cube' doesn't seem to belong at the start of the article.

The way I am interpreting these snippets is that they are all part of a single large article regarding the theft of the cube and the murder of Fran. As such, we are still expecting a section that starts with something like:

Exclusive Shocker! Receda Cube stolen!! Security Guard murdered!! Today the PCA announced....

This is then followed by the advert from the London Times. At the very end of this article comes some background information regarding the cube and its significance to Perplex City (ie LA times and the Post-It).

Although this isn't an amazingly good example, I have referenced this Sun press release that i found on the web (No, i don't work for Sun!). Have a look at the format of this press release, particularly the following snippets:

Quote:
March 14, 2005 -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) today announced...

Quote:
...allows customers to test Sun and partner solutions...

Quote:
Since its inception in 1982, a singular vision -- "The Network Is The Computer" -- has propelled Sun Microsystems, Inc....

If i'm wrong, i'm wrong. I'm sure I can deal with the humiliation Wink

After i made my last post i read spaceXplorer's mention in one of the other threads, and again here, about the possability of a missing headline. thats an interesting point i hadn't considered. i guess i was kind of assuming the article just started at the first paragraph... it will be interesting to see if a headline is included for this article and how much text is included with it... like you said we wait.

I suppose what we find out on the 19th will be the next part of the article. What do you think it will be? The headline perhaps? Surely not something same as the ones before... would be kind of pointless hyping it up in this way..

"Lost. The Cube. Reward Offered." That sounds vaguely like a headline. Especially if you look at it like this: "Lost: The Cube, Reward Offered." Probably not, but it's possible. Maybe one of the remaining fragments will mention the reward?

i also think we're missing a heading, not a first sentence, and a better heading than 'Lost: Cube. Reward Offered' . I mean, if the cube was stolen, i think media would express it larger than that. such as: 'The Receda Cube Stolen! Secruity Guard Murdered by Thieves!' or something like that. I'm not sure where we'll get this heading, since we have two video refrences left, and two spaces we need to fill, but those are my thoughts.

p.s. whats really scary is that my math teachers birthday is on pi day... Shocked

einstein's birtdhay is on pi day...

I think that Lost. The Cube. Reward Offered is a potent headline...considering that just the word cube has more of a significance there than it does here...

As throw-away nonsense, Sente more concerned about cube than murder, not mentioning it and (more importantly!) not warning us....hmmmm. Also the scant detail on the "three security systems" suggests to me that we may have to deal with them ourselves at some point?

I'm not sure that middle bit is missing... I think it goes more like:

Quote:

Several religious and mystical groups around Perplex City hold the Cube as an object of reverence. It is housed in the Academy museum and has been on public display since 228AC. That accounts for the one remaining article too.

[edit] Actually... this should be in the text snippets thread... oops..
