EMAIL: Mayor - Graffitti and Dale's Accident Report

Spec: We're going to get the map of graffitti locations (either from Wes or from the Mayor). It is time for this clue to be revealed to us (hence the hints from Wes). Hopefully we'll also get the accident report (but this may not be the clue we really need - or it would have been already available to us).

From Elderofzion at CD:

Quote:
Rattling the cage, seems to have had an effect, tho I imagine Mr.
Darzion will not be on the Town of Aglaura's Christmas card list after this
little napalming. Here's hoping that these things actually get done, as
this is just the stuff I've been pushing to get --

Mayor's reply and Elder's incendiary original follow:

Please be advised that I am forwarding this response to our borough
attorney.

I am somewhat distressed with the tone of voice expressed in your
letter. However, I understand and appreciate your concerns, and hope that a
short synopsis of what I have "in the works" will serve to appease you.

Earlier this week, in response to the overwhelming amount of questions
and concerns received by our Office, I attempted to establish a
dialogue with the state authorities regarding the investigation about Dale
Sprague's car accident.

Earlier today, an associate of mine in Trenton promised me an official
police report, with the understanding that I will distribute it to the
press. I anticipate receipt of this document by the end of the week,
and hope to diseminate the information in another press function early
next week.

Please be patient until then, and allow my Office the time we need to
secure and post this information.

Regarding the graffiti - we appreciate everyone's desire to help out
with
tracking down the vandals, and as you can imagine, we are anxious to
rid our community of the blight. As I've stated publically, we felt
further disclosure would only further encourage the vandals.
Unfortunately, this was the case anyway.

Therefore, I have asked our local police department to mark up a map
that I hope will allow the public to be better able to identify probable
suspects and to help put a stop to this for once and for all. This too
will be distributed publically in the near future.

Thank you again for your concerns and interest in Aglaura, NJ, but
please be careful to keep future communications civil; the accident did not
occur in Aglaura, associated responsibilities as Mayor of this town -
as opposed to personal concern for Mr. Sprague - are therefore limited.

Pat J. Dobbs
Mayor, Aglaura, NJ

Mayor Dobbs:
>
> So interesting to see your new message about your door being always
open. Unfortunately, no light or information seems to be forthcoming
through that open door. Supposedly you wanted to make an arrangement where
you would provide access to necessary contacts to those of us who have
been contacted by Dale about his situation, and we in turn would stop
clogging up the channels of government. I was I believe one of the first
persons to whom you
> offered this arrangement, or quid pro quo, but I was no means the
last. And for the better part of two weeks I have respected that
arrangement, and waited to hear from your office..
>
> But here we are, over two weeks from the date of our first contact,
and there are still huge gaps in our ability to chase down the most
basic facts about the accident. No identification of either the emergency
medical personnel or police officers were actually at the scene of the
accident. No access to the local news reports of the accident (most
specifically any relevant Aglaura Free Press news articles, or news reports
beyond the initial Channel 8 news bulletin).
>
> And there's been yet more stonewalling in regard to the recent spate
of graffiti in town, graffiti which started to appear in the aftermath
of Dale's tragic accident (though the connection may or not be
completely coincidental). Both I and a number of my fellow investigators into
this matter are aware that there have been several separate appearances
of this graffiti around town, and have asked you to provide access to
views of other graffiti beside the library wall. Instead, we get a
hotline that only allows for incoming reports, without any way for those of
us outside the community to access this information.
>
What has your unwillingness to cooperate gotten you so far? Pictures of
the graffiti wind up headlining a sensationalist special report on the
Ch 8 news, dredging up all the old tales you were trying to get away
from by changing your town name. And I can assure you that unless you
start making a better effort to keep us up to date, that sort of publicity
won't be your last. I already happen to have in my possession eleven
seconds of video footage that seriously call into question what really
happened on Buddtown Road this February 14th. That's just the sort of
teaser that would make a lovely intro to another Special News Report, eh?

How we proceed from here is in your hands, Pat. I hope you'll start to
make good on your earlier promises.

Update from Mayor McCheese -- the police report is in, and we should see it soon (1-2 days). The graffiti map is still in process (and appears to be Sam's job to complete).

email from this evening:

Mr. Darzion:

There were apparently some delays in receiving the police report, but it
arrived earlier and I have not had a chance to forward a copy on to the
Council. The Mayor and the Council need a couple business days to review it, but rest assured that it will be made public as soon as possible.

The Mayor was talking about the graffiti map earlier today - there's been some minor troubles putting it online for some reason, but expect it very soon as well.

Your concern about the map is not the first to cross my desk from the public; I am forwarding it yet again to our webmaster in the hopes that it will help motivate him to move on this, despite how busy he is.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Lorraine Tweed, administrative assistant
for Pat J. Dobbs
