But if we don't tell her that she's made a mistake, then she won't learn. I'm not saying that we should tell her that she's 'bad' if she makes a mistake; we should explain to her that she's not, because she didn't mean to, etc. We should tell her to try to not do it next time, though. If we 'pamper' her by telling her that she's in the right when she isn't, then she won't learn from her mistakes. And that's what we NEED Syn to do -- to learn, and to exercise her mind.

From my experience teaching Special Needs children, it's most often better not to dwell on mistakes -- you don't pretend they didn't exist, but you help the child to succeed on her next attempt. If she falls, pick her up and help her. It creates a sense of accomplishment as well as strengthens the bond between you as a teacher and friend, and the child.
