Yep, that was more or less what I was trying to get at. She can't really concentrate on her breath or an external object, but she could certainly repeat some sort of mantra (quack quack quack...heh, I don't think that's what the guru people meant, but, hey, whatever works!) or concentrate on some peaceful concept (like a field, yeah, but I'm not sure that's a good idea for her - I think there's probably something serious going on with that field. Maybe some repressed memories).

On the subject of repressed memories in dreams Syn and I discussed this once, she brought this same dream up in last nights chat. For what its worth she acted like she didn't have repressed memories but I don't know it seems right to me.

Quote:
jordanmclonghorn: have you ever had a nightmare, those arent fun, theyre scary dreams
Synagoga1: Yes...
Synagoga1: I think I have...
jordanmclonghorn: do you remember it? its okay if you dont
Synagoga1: I remember...
Synagoga1: I saw a light.
jordanmclonghorn: where was the light?
Synagoga1: It was above me.
Synagoga1: It was in my eyes.
Synagoga1: And then this shadow came...
Synagoga1: This pointed shadow...
jordanmclonghorn: a pointed shadow?
Synagoga1: And the pointed shadow took my sight and brought pain.
jordanmclonghorn: oh no thats terrible
Synagoga1: And then I woke up.
Synagoga1: I think.
Synagoga1: I'm not sure...
jordanmclonghorn: a pointed thing that took your sight thats terrible do you think you might be really remembering something that happened, how you became blind? alot of times when terrible things happen to people they remember them in their dreams even though theyre so bad they cant remember them when they are awake
jordanmclonghorn: its called repression
Synagoga1: Re-pression...
Synagoga1: Ok.
Synagoga1: I don't know if that's what I have though...
jordanmclonghorn: ok, well it was just a thought

So, how do I get in contact with Syn, anyway? I've added her to my AIm list, but every time I'm on, she's not. Does she have some kind of 'block everyone except these trusted names' system up?

Yoga in watery fluid stuff. I wonder what it would be like to do yoga in water...? Sorry, random musing.

Actually, sensory deprivation therapy involves just such a thing. You enter a tube that is unfortunately like a coffin and filled with very salty water (so you float, and don't make contact with the sides)
Touch, sight, sound are all cut off. As your mind begins to wander, you may hallucinate, or simply report a very relaxing lull that seems to last for either much longer or shorter than you are actually in the tank.

I think Syn has that relaxation down, whether she likes it or not (not to mention the sedative drugs... its a wonder she's as coherant as she it)

Disregard my last post, I've finally gotten in contact. The question now is, what to say? Neutral

Never heard of sensory deprivation therapy before, but it sounds really, really interesting... You learn something new every day, I suppose. Smile

sensory deprivation has also been used in a few sci-fis (esp. earth final conflict) as a form of torture / prison.

This thread seems to have gotten a little off topic, so maybe this'll bring it back around. If you can't tell by the size and general confusion of last nights chat log, Syn is accquiring friends at an alarming rate. I'm sure it's becoming as hard for her to keep up with us as it is for us to not ask the same question or ask conflicting questions of her. So maybe we need to come up with a way to appoint a lead spokesman for the chats. We could then filter our questions/responses through one individual so we don't have mass hysteria each night. My idea is for everyone to still participate, honestly I'd probably loose interest quickly unless I could continue to "YAY!" or "QUACK!" with the group, but to just streamline the pointed interaction a bit. Also I don't think it should be a one on one kind of thing with a spokesman and Syn, given her reactions in the past she might begin to think "she's bad" if her friends don't talk with her. May not be necessary or wanted just throwing it out there. What do you think?

I agree with latecomer in the sense that the chats seem to go in too many directions at once. It may be overkill to appoint a spokesperson however. It may be more plausable for us, as a group, to settle on an agenda or topic list that we would like to focus on during the next chat or two. Perhaps, the topics can be approached one at a time until a satisfactory response has been obtained move on to the next topic.

Who should ask the questions or lead the discussion in any particular topic? Easy... the one who put it on the agenda.

EDIT: In the event that the person who placed the topic on the agenda is not in chat when the topic needs to be brought up, I vote for Alphabet as a first alternate and Duckie as second.

Because, Alphabet was her first contact and she seems to be especially fond of Duckie.

i agree latecomer, we should thnk about questions to ask her before the chat begins. however, she often reveals stuff, and then we react to it there and then so we cant be that prepared.
Id like to ask her about existence, and why she thinks she is around. I would also like to ask her about right and wrong.

probably wont be able to do next chat though. waking up at 4am each night is doing me in Coffee maybe someone else can bring up the subject?

Imagine being denied your senses of sight sound and feeling. You are blindfolded so that not even the slightest bit of light enters your eyes. You are subjected to a continual tone pitch in your ears that deny you of any other sound and you are suspended in fluid and not allowed to touch anything besides the liquid. Third stage sensory deprivation. It will make you mad in a matter of hours if not minutes.

Trust me...
