I got this in my mail, as well.

I'm trying hard to not think of it as spam... Confused

Me too

I got this too. It is either a REALLLLY cryptic trail starter or some strange form of spam targeted directly at us. Anyone got a pgp key they can use to email this guy?

Hmmm

I'm going to get a pgp key and try and send him a response with a throwaway account and see what happens.

Markus, are you in the Bay Area? I am, so I'm wondering if that's why I got this.

Ah, figured it out

If you send him a pgp key and then encrypt it with the key he gave, then he talks to you through encrypted messages. It's still very enigmatic, but it doesn't look like spam at all. I think you have to be in the Bay Area for him to respond to you. I don't know how he knows, though. If this is a game intro, this is the best one I've seen in a long time.

Dang

And, is it an offshoot of CTW. They have my location, and would know that I would be available for a SF-type thing.

Dang. If it IS CTW, then I don't wanna decline. If it's NOT CTW, then I don't have time to do it.

CTW

I used to do CTW a while ago, so that lends credence to that theory...

Can you post the messages?
Thanks

I want to know about this. What was the email's subject? I live in the Bay Area, play CTW, and got no email.

I don't plat CTW, but I got this

I was spammed by this on my AOL IM. I'm very skeptical. If you are going to start a new game, why not start a web-site? I'm going to do the pgp sending thing (by the way, anyone who doesn't know whay pgp is, there is a free version somewhere at www.pgp.net, it's an encryption thing, so at least whoever is doing this is being creative). I haven't been too impressed with any of the current AR games that I have played, so I am curious what this is going to turn into. I'll post more when I find out.

CTW, no email like you, but responded anyway.

I play CTW, but I didn't get an email either. I DID see this exact same message posted on another group with a different email address (not jones3213) a few days ago, and I live in south San Francisco, so I responded just to see what it was all about.

WOW.

I am NOT going post a single thing, it's too good. It's completely different than I expected. It's very techie, which I am into a lot, and it is incredibly immersive. I would suggest checking it out.

You just registered to Unfiction. You're a shill. Nice try, but pretty transparent.

This answers my question. It's spam.

I live a bit south of san francisco, near San Jose. I didn't receive this email and I do not play CTW -- but now i'm very curious to see the unencrypted message. Could someone post it (or send it to me) so I can see if it is something I could participate in?
