A quick question: Do I really have to re-take the soul-worth test (and submit 3 friends) each and every time I want to try and solve the puzzle? Confused

I think that you have to follow the email link that you got from Bridget in the ihavefoundJon email, then you don't have to retest.

Check... Very Happy

I tried to access the puzzle trough the 'standard' S&S page first (which took me to the soul-worth test), and after I re-tried the 'reward' page, I saw the same 'contract number' question as before... But after the login procedure on that page, it took me back to the puzzle. Smile

As for the puzzle itself: "Aleph meets star"? Neutral

Hmmm; an Aleph looks like this:

Perhaps it can be used as a clue in the puzzle?

Also: "The worth of a thing is what it will bring"

And let us repeat what we know of the symbols (quoted from another site):

Corvus Corax
The common raven; the bird of darkness. The MIB is supposed to have emerged from a cloud of ravens, according to the Hornchurch Star website.

Trident
Trident Air of course.

Ophidia
The snake symbol is mentioned a lot, too, mostly with a biblical reference to the story of Adam and Eve being tempted by the snake, as a symbol for the temptation that S&S embodies.

Flame And Fire
Inferno Cargo.

Lepidoptera
The butterflies, said to represent human souls, waiting to 'pass through Purgatory.'

Canidea
The family of dogs in the animal kingdom, references in the game are found in the "Black Dog," being the MIB himself or his protector. In Greek mythology, Cerberus was the hell-hound, the three-headed guardian of Hades and Black Shuck, the legend of the Norfolk beast.

On with the puzzle.... Confused

Frankie, i realize you've recently started this game, and are very interested, BUT everything you've posted so far has already been mentioned (in great detail) in one thread or another. Please review the threads and use the search function before you make another post... We already have way too much clutter here to sift through when searching for clues (and yes, i understand that i've just contributed to it). Thank You.

I noticed in the the links in his journal the one about the mayan civilization mentions snake fangs in the MIDDLE of the mask, and in the one about someone found atlantis..again..it mentions poseidon, a referrence to the trident obviously. Do you think there could be a correlation between the dates that he mentions these things and there appearance in order? I just started playing this game yesterday, so if this sounds foolish, call me an idiot...

I found this in the mini robot article:

The robot's processing is divided among six (with room to grow) commodity PCs running RTLinux. One to handle balance and locomotion, another visual processing, the third diagnostics and watchdog, the fourth planning and mapping, the fifth dexterous manipulation, and the sixth, coordination, watchdog and safety. Most of the design (except the goal planning and mapping) is behavior-based.
The gyros are polled at 100Hz, which is overkill considering the height of the robot's CG. With six gyros churning at 100hz, a lot of mission-critical bandwidth is required, so I placed the gyros on their own token-ring controller that is accessible only to the balance and watchdog CPUs.

that is only thing of relevance i can find in that article...It mentions an order of the six in a sense, visual processing which could be the raven type and the watchdog but still nothing major...or is it?

Yeah, that's definitely interesting.
Let's see: IF we could really match 6 entries in Jon's journal with the 6 symbols, we could not only try to put the symbols in the grid in the order they're found in the journal, but also try to use the dates of the entries to form the phone number... well well... let's have yet another look at the Cache...
Oh, btw, welcome aboard, smart newbie! Very Happy

another thing I found in Daniel 5:

4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

It mentions six items in order of the most precious being Gold???
some more things to think about...can we relate the signs to this???
Im sorry for all the posts, but I figure the more options we have of six for everyone to look at, the more help we can give each other...If it gets annoying it will stop....
Thanks Nadif by the way for the welcome....

OK, so I followed that thought and came up with more interesting stuff:

If the order from most precious to least is

Gold
Silver
Brass
Iron
Wood
Stone

then maybe we can match the symbols up to these materials.

on the news story about atlantis it says
"Dr Kuehne believes the rectangular features could be the remains of a "silver" temple devoted to the sea god Poseidon"

So silver could represent the trident.

on the news story about Mayan discoveries it says
"The 4.5m by 3m (15ft by 9ft) stucco mask had one eye visible and the mouth squared, with snake's fangs in its centre."

So stone could represent the snake.

this would give us

Gold
Silver - trident
Brass
Iron
Wood
Stone - snake

i'm going to search more of these links and see if i can find things to help match up the other four symbols.

I just noticed that The Bazookas' site mentions Jon Harker. It's definitely OOG, right?

it's very strange, seeing Jon harker (who is 'phoning in sick to work' or something)

But, having read the rest of the site, there doesn't seem to be any more useful information. apart from the fact that one of the band members will be at the north pole unil may.

See, I have a problem with using info from Jon's site to determine the value of these things, as it's the value Sable & Shuck have for them (as it's their puzzle) and so no reason for us to be looking to Jon...

But still, we do appear to be needing to look at everything again!

The worth of a thing is what it will bring....Fires bring butterflies no? well moths but they are similar, I don't know if they are attracted to the flame as well but if fire brings butterflies and the raven flies where he walks, he being the devil or man in black and the serpent is the devil then the serpent would bring raven....damn man this is making me stupider i think...

ravens call him
he is a snake
he carries a trident
he can turn into a dog
fire follows him
butterflies shun him

maybe?

Im still confused over what this train of thought is trying to achieve.

Can someone shine a light on the situation?
