Symbols and numbers

Lets start a new thread on this, seeing as the last one has ended up in being trolled.

We have to think harder on this puzzle.... but bear in mind that the answer will only become available once the PM's finally decide to let us finish the game.

Six symbols:
Fire
Trident
Snake
Raven
Dog
Butterfly

One grid, which arranges the symbols into a Fibonacci spiral:
1,2,3,5,8,13 squares respectively for each consecutive placement.

A 'simple' instruction to order AND number the symbols from the most 'precious' to the least. A phone number will 'appear' if we get it ordered correctly.

We have three main leads on this:
1) The order of the symbols on HWAU and friendsreunited.com
2) The numbers associated with each clue on the crossword
3) The works of Johann Von Goethe

I know you all know this, but it's nice to keep it all together in a nice CLEAN thread.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
you guys shouldnt be trying to form the spiral with the curves but with the lines, as a proper fibbonacci will not appear through the curves. also the way the symbols appear on the grid is back to front. you have to then arrange the numbers in logical order. one would logically presume it should be the numbers attached to the symbols (13, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1) but 21 is still missing. bear in mind that the star also appears....

non too cert the first fibonacci number is "1",and the second is "2"...
if we imagine this grid like an co-ordinate system, the star's co-ordinates
the first,and second fibonacci number...
x=6
y=4

at this case...
the fibonacci sequence :
4,6,10,16,26,42,68,......

and must write in the 2-digit box :
04,06,10,16,26,42
or
46,10,16,26,42,68,

or the "original" numbers:
1,2,3,5,8,13,21,......so 7 digits...

but so:12,03,05,08,13,21.....6 digits
and not missing 21....and beginning of the end's backwards...12...21..

or backwards...

any more:

the symbols finding in Goethe:Faust

in order...the symbol's order in Faust=the symbol's order in grid

but too much variation, and not point of departure ...

im not so sure we should have to look further than the fibonacci spiral on the hornchurchstar weather webcam for the numbers.
http://www.hornchurchstar.com/webcam/webcam_day8.jpg

i know some have said they have tried all combinations with those numbers... but surely they really are the only ones that make real sense.
has this picture been used for anything else before? i don't really think it has.

(and good on lenny for putting his post as a spoiler, makes it easier to ignore him)

Another source of the spiral

If you'll recall, the spiral (origin and direction) appears the exact same on Sable and Shuck as the "Imitation" test.

Maybe it's nothing, is there someone who can look at the source code, is there something special?

I don't have a clue, but there are a lot of numbers..

Sorry can't help looking for clues everywere Rolling Eyes

If this was all planned from the very beginning that we'd have to find clues from the other sites to solve the order then from HWAU it says:
Quote:
Follow the snake and your life will be changed forever

So does this mean it should come first?

tryin to get back on subject, there is no answer in the flash source, it simply creates a "pass number" which is then fed to a php website which verifies the correct combo or not.

An Idea.

Have been giving this puzzle a lot of thought. Two things gave me an idea that may have some merit.

1. We should remember that the purpose of this game isn't to give us all hours of fun, it's to advertise Stella Artois and specifically to help embed Stella Artois' advertising tagline "Reassuringly Expensive since 1366" in our collective minds. Stella Artois (interbrew) is a business and wants to maximise the bang it gets for it's advertising buck. I think this explains why new information is only released periodically according to the zodiac calendar on the hornchurch star site. This game would have been expensive to build, it is very slick and very detailed. As hard as it is, had some genius solved it in a day then all of Stella's expense in bulding the game would have been wasted. In my view the objective, from Stella's perspective is to get people hooked, get people talking about it on sites such as this and then keep them interested for as long as possible. Therefore I am guessing that although this is the final puzzle we probably do not yet have the information to solve it and that will come on the March and April horroscope dates and may well relate to Jon's contract and other unsolved puzzles.

2). Despite 1). above I think that we possibly already have enough information to complete either the order of the puzzle or the numbering, just not both. I therefore tried to establish a way of tying in the ordering of the symbols with the advertising message that stella are trying to get across. Here follows my thought process:

a) There are actually 7 symbols if you include the star in the middle of the puzzle. Working from the centre to the outside the Star is the first symbol in the 7 symbol series.

b) Stella is Latin for star

c) There are various references to the usefulness of Latin in the hotel guest books

d) there are six letters in the word ARTOIS and six remaining symbols

e) Serpentum is Latin for snake, Ignis is Latin for Fire, Onis is latin for Butterfly, Tridentem is latin for Trident.

f) Therefore we have Stella __TOIS

g) Now it gets dificult. When you get the puzzle wrong it says return to the beginning. Assuming the man in black is the Devil himself, in the beginning the Devil was an angel who then later turned bad. So assuming we are in the beginning, the latin for angel is Angelus.

h) That leaves us with Raven as the R. Fine if this one is in English for some reason, but that wouldn't fit the pattern. The latin word for Raven is Corvus, difficult to get to R from that. However on hewalksamongus Jon harker specifically refers to a particular type of raven, The Corvus Corax, or Common Raven. Could that be the clue. the Common term for Raven is Raven, i.e. the English word?

Obviously without the values for each thing (which i don't think we have yet unless they are the fibonacci sequence) i cannot confirm this sequence but I believe the correct sequence to be

STELLA

A angelus
R Raven
T tridentum
O onis
I ignis
S serpentum

What do you think?

Goddammit, Bluemach...
I was just at the beginning of that, I was indeed trying to involve Stella into the puzzle, but I came up wit a dead end...
Your vision of this has reopened my eyes... man, thats brilliant!!!

Well, Bluemachina, I can agree with your first line of reasoning, that Interbrew (Stella) wants to get as much out of this game as possible, and therefore would like it to last as long as possible, at least untel April.

Further, although I admire your inventiveness, I do not think your solution for the order of the symbols would stand. As you already indicate, it needs some mind-bending to get the logic in (also the A for the Devil is a bit far-fetched) and further, the assignment to order the symbols with the most precious first does not make sense if the solution would be a word.

I suppose we just have to wait for more clues.

Hi, I'm after this game since for the start, but it's the first time I write on this forum.

What do you think about this:

"Canis Major is one of Orion's hunting dogs. The brightest star in this constellation is Sirius, often called the Dog Star."
