source code

Obs:
There are an equal number of numbers in each source code.
The numbers of digits in each set is reversed. (7-5/5-7)

Could they possibly fit together like the pages themselves?
(16 0 18 8 10 0 18 2 20 16 24 24/ 17 0 23 1 8 9 0 17 17 8 27 19)

Just some random thoughts. I thought of coords. because I don't neccessarily believe we need to decode the entire grid. More likely we have to extract something from it and then decipher the extrapolated data.(but the higher numbers are a prob. when thinking coords.)

Not sure why my spacing didn't format. Meant it to read:
16 0 18 8 10 0 18
2 20 16 24 24/ 17 0 23 1 8
9 0 17 17 8 27 19

Second guessing myself...if the above were the case why leave a blank in the bottom right corner?

SPEC

i think the last empty box might mean we have to deduce what comes next. and that will be used in the next guide clue.

however, the exceedingly large set that comes before it, is quite unlike most guess the next symbol puzzles i'm accustomed to, so therefore this can only be spec.

grid

As far as I can tell there is only 1 unique character in the grid. The urn in the far left column, nine spaces down.

I have counts of characters, but don't think they're important.

The presence of KEYS in the image (2 different types) seems quite peculiar to me.....

Ummm...that's all I can add at this point.

I concur there are 60 different symbols. The urn is the only unique one. Five are in only twice and five again only three times. For what it's worth.... which at this point doesn't look like much Rolling Eyes

I can't seem to find a mate for the image in the second column from the right also in the 9th row down.....

(edited to say):
Check that...third row, second column from left....nevermind

In the source code of the pages :

Antisthenes :
<!--16 0 18 8 10 0 18 2 20 16 24 24 -->

Heraclitus :
<!--17 0 23 1 8 9 0 17 17 8 27 19 -->

They can't be grid coordinates because the grid is 22x22.

I lining them up with the original two cyphers:

Antisthenes code, Antisthenes letters:
IACE(10)AC W(20)IMM

Antisthenes code, Heraclitus letters:
MAKUSAK W(20)MEE

Heraclitus code, Antisthenes letters:
HA(23)(1)E BAFFED(19)

Hereclitus code, Heraclitus letters:
(17)ATNU FA(17)(17)U(27)(19)

In short, I'm pretty much getting nowhere. Confused

Just for reference, the substitution alphabets were created by shifting consecutive letters a given amount and cycling back through at the end until all letters were used. In other words, A, B & C are separated by a fixed amount and if we come to 27 we just continue counting back at 0.

Antisthenes used a shift of 9 and Heraclitus a shift of 13. I have tried several other shifts as well to try to decipher the source text with no luck.

Here are the two substitution alphabets:

Shift 9
0-A
1-Z
2-W
3-T
4-Q
5-N
6-K
7-H
8-E
9-B

11-X
12-U
13-R
14-O
15-L
16-I

19-
20-Y
21-V
22-S
23-P
24-M
25-J
26-G
27-D

-Shift 13

3-L
4-Y

Hieroglyphics

This looks like hieroglyphics to me. Not just the fact that it is pictures, but also the formatting, with the different numbers of pictures together in each square.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about hieroglyphics, so I may be totally wrong about that. I'll look into it ... does anyone know anything about hieroglyphics?

Spec: related to the SOD puzzle?

Maybe if the eyeballs line up when you superimpose one image on the other, then it tells something? Maybe?

Just arrived... been catching up the last couple of days.

Runes

it seems to me like the symbols are some kind fo cryptology so I don't know if the actual meaning of the signs is significant.

Some of them are runes though, you can find them and their meanings on this website:

http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html

What that has to do with the solve of this grid, if anything, I don't know.

font?

Hey all, I just registered a couple nights ago, but I think I'm pretty much caught up on what I've missed so far...

I'm not sure if anyone else has checked this out yet, but the images sort of remind me of font characters. I tried with wingdings and various others, but my word processor is somewhat limited Rolling Eyes

Has anyone tried putting the keys in the locks? Seems to make me think of the Hollow Needle. I just don't know what I'm "seeing". Maybe a combo with the eyes and keys?
