Fran Mendling an Anagram?

 		Fran Mendling an Anagram?
Fran Mendling has been running around my mind ever since the news of her death. There's something about that name that seems like it could possibly hold a clue to the theft of the cube. Could it be that the name is actually an anagram?

Take into consideration that Fran is a common abbreviation of many other names. Some of the more common ones i can think of are:

  • Frances
  • Francene
  • Francesca
  • Francoise

To name but a few. What you will notice in all of the above names, when combined with 'Mendling' is that they all contain one very important word.....RECEDA !!

So I have been playing around with those names in an anagram generator (I have been mainly using the Internet Anagram Server) to see what comes up, but so far have drawn a blank. The closest I have got so far is 'RECEDA FILMING SONN' for 'Francoise Mendling' which is obviously close but no cigar! So I thought I would start a new topic and throw the challenge open to others.

The other thing to mention is that I have only tried anagram searches in English. There have been various mentions that 'Receda' could be Italian or Latin, so potentially so could the whole anagram?

 		well... I'll admit 'mendling' is a fairly uncommon last name... Smile makes you wonder if there's some other purpose to the name selection...

i actually worked with a girl once with the last name of mendling.... however, she's the only mendling i've ever come across...

What stands out immediately to me is Fran Mend Ling. If only Ling could Mend Fran!

Yes a little naughty I will admit, but like you I tried with just Fran Mendling and didn't come up with anything very relevant. It was then that I thought about non-abbreviated names, and happened to spot the Receda link.

What I am really hoping is that we find out Fran's full name in one of the following adverts, so that I can narrow the search.

Also, I am hoping that the rest of the anagram will be in Italian or Latin, and that it will make a sentence in which 'Receda' is used in context.

Hope is all I have right now.... Rolling Eyes

kiteway? zeller? adamek? i think we can assume most of the last names will be a wee bit uncommon Wink

as to why theyre chosen? mendling.... fran was a meddler and got killed for finding out too much? im picturing a nosy person, who discovered say a plot on the theft of the cube. and she got the axe..... it is a she right?

Why would that be more likely? Do you not agree that Fran could be an abbreviation?

Every person I have ever met called Fran (male and female) has abbreviated it to that. Would be interested to know if anyone knows anybody who's whole first name is just Fran.

 		That's a fair point. The one Fran I know is Francine. The extrapolation creates too many possibilities for my wee mind to confront however! Ouch! It is true that in order to make an anagram one might settle for abbrevates(?) like Fran instead of Francine(sic). I don't Fran is Ann, but that's my favorite so far Dr. Ann Fleming. but why would a guard be a Dr.? This cube thingy gives me a case of crazy-brains.

Usually security request full names, Henrick Tanner, Fran Mendling....
Also newspapers usually print full names, i wouldnt be called Andy in the paper, i'd be called Andrew Smile

Have a look at that security log again - the only place she is referred to as 'Fran' is by Tanner as he arrives. We can assume that he is friendly with her and therefore uses her abbreviated name. Everywhere else, she is just 'Mendling, F'

Again, only by her colleague Camryn Scott does she get called Fran. As i've mentioned in another thread, I still think we are missing the start of the article, which may well give her full name.
