[SPEC] Badge Numbers & SMTP daemon subprocess

I started this because i think there's a connection between Gatehouse Entrances, Badge Numbers, and EMail Communications.

Spec: The email daemon changed when Project Syzygy ended. However, the following was 'issued' at that time, which suggests that email is the way to communicate with the Academy.
Quote:
"The reason why your message hasn't been delivered so far is that data integrity
transport checksums have failed on all transport attempts. Preliminary diagnostic
information available to me indicates that there has been a failure in Sandbox
Mail Transport Daemon (daemon subprocess 3ea5).

Should you wish further information on this error, please access your designated
support resource
. Unfortunately, the security context for this instance dictates
I may not disclose your designated support resource."
The "3ea5" stands out to me as similar to a badge number, which also helps 'fliter/categorize' those who pass thru INTO the Academy. Perhaps everything has to scutinized before it can enter there. Perhpas the thieves discovered how to hack it and these badge coulds are the method.

We have "sente at perplexcity dot com"
I think we could get more info this way - what about you all - do we rely on Sente to clue us in - or does it seem likely that we need to try to send email to that address (or another) and use badge numbers in the Subject and or Body?

Is it bad to spam Sente? I would think it would be so unless we had a clear key on how to do this communication correctly and get through the filters.

[EDIT: un-spam-ified the e-mail address. yanka.]

That's not bad spec... if we go by the cache files, we can eliminate some names whose badge doesn't match 3ea5

S. Ling (badge 995ae)
Lyssa Ling (badge 640ea)
F. Mendling (badge 489ae)
Henrik Tanner (badge 529ea)

So, if 3ea5 does correspond to a person then it ain't one of the above. However, doesn't have to be a person.

Interesting note as well - the "ae" and the "ea" in the gatehouse logs corresponds to the first and second person to go through. The first person got an "ae", the second an "ea". Put this on the spec above and you might surmise that the 3ea5 daemon is the second in a sequence.

One thing though, if you read the logs differently you can get the feeling that one person is stationed at the entrance like a guard. Fran tells Henrik Good Morning and asks that he place his hand on the scanner.

In the exhcange with the two sisters:
Quote:
A
// labeled A;
// triangulated location mapped;
// passive badge { present }
// badge query { ling, s {995ae} }

Waiting long [,] sis [?]

// not yet reviewed

B
// labeled B;
// triangulated location mapped;
// passive badge { present }
// badge query { ling, l {640ea} }

Oh [!] You surprised me.

// not yet reviewed
// 15% positive emotional state
// cross reference surveillance footage

{ extrapolated: badge {line 16} extracted }

{ gatekeeper system 24;
active badge interrogated, passed }

This is weird because the person being snuck up on is subjected to a cross-reference with surveillance footage. If this person were a guard, the scanning would already be done. The person arriving at the Gatehouse is not sujected to this scan, and is never asked to identify themselves to the scanner.

The "ae" does not mean guard, and it does not convey full clearance to the bearer.

I had always assumed that 3ea5 was simply a re-working of ae35 which is the communications unit that Hal reports as about to fail on the Discovery in 2001. I thought it was a little joke but then I'm new to this. Very Happy

Little spec on there that maybe it indicates access levels, but i suspect the SMTP daemon process id is unrelated...
