video! Wow!

Did anyone else have sound on this? Mine was quiet (need to go try a different computer).

Looks like tomorrow could be a big day...the first date mentioned in the clip is Feb. 17th along with the mention of the newspaper USA Today...

How exciting!!!

I think it's begun...

Alright, so we have dates and newspapers, and what looks like a drive through a city, while a woman talks about "our peoples and theirs". Basically, from what I gathered, their universe is the same as ours, but they learnt differently from their history-which is the same as our own-and have been studying our world. Nothing on the cube itself.

You're best off watching it... here's the dates and everything.

17th February
USA Today

22nd February
New York Sun

23rd February
The Times London

(Two empty black areas where the dates and newspaper usually are after this. A clue?)

8th March
LA Times

(Four empty black areas this time)

21st March
The Guardian

(Then the infamous note with the upsidedown web address)

So all the dates are dates that have not occoured yet, and the names refer to newspapers...

Anybody want to grab USA today tommorow?

EDIT: Do not trout, was typed at same time, and i think spoilers are a little fairer for those that wish to discover on their own.

Good find, it would probably have been a couple of days before i checked the main site again, i was steadily losing hope, well, that'll teach me.
Good job this was turned up now, following is the text featured in the dark screens and whether blank/not (jic):
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1) 17th February : USA Today
2) 22nd February : New York Sun
3) 23rd February : The Times, London
4) BLANK
5) BLANK
6) 8th March : LA Times
7) BLANK
8) BLANK
9) BLANK
10) BLANK
11) 21st March : The Guardian

So 11 blanks, not binary. Two papers i can get (on the assumption they are papers) 3 and 11. Any other takers.
The video highlights a ?rift? between our world and the speakers. Some sort of divide. Going to play around with those blank spaces, it may not hurt to assume they have a purpose

lol, don't worry about it. ^_^

Anybody recognise the streets the camera is being driven through? I'd say Japan, given all the eloctronic branding logos all over the place... but then I'm in Australia. ^^;;

Correction: definitely Japan, or the like. Japanese symbols everywhere if you watch is carefully...

I watched it. Kinda hard to make out the voice, here is my transcript:

17th February - USA TODAY
*voice starts*
22nd February - (My Birthday - Unrelated Razz ) New York Sun
"There is a theme that has risen again and again in our studyings (studies?) across all relevant disciplines"
23rd FEBRUARY - THE TIMES LONDON
"The similarities between our peoples are truly profound"
*Blank black screen*
"And consequentially serve to make the differences all the more shocking"
*Blank black screen*
"It is as though our modern day societies took our collective cultural experiences"
8th MARCH - LA TIMES
"All of our shared histories and learned from it completely different lessons"
*Blank black screen*
"One could expect then"
*Blank black screen*
"A feeling of alienation upon(?) the subjects of our studying"
*Camera turns left*
"This is not so"
*Blank black screen*
"Our researches have instead, come to identify very strongly with their counterparts on the other side of the curve(? current? not sure)"
*Blank black screen*
"The rhythm we seem to occupy seems to be a long period of"
*Camera tilts up*
21st MARCH - THE GUARDIAN
"Comfortable familiarity, with a counterpoint of sudden,"
*Fade to firebox ad image*
"And often shock, Culture shock..." Trail off...

Music in BG.
Capitalization of text done exactly as in video. They arent consistent either, so dont blame me.

The text is displayed in white over black full screen. The timing is not exactly as I posted here, as I made it to try and fit sentences. Here is the transcript with no notes:

"There is a theme that has risen again and again in our studyings (studies?) across all relevant disciplines. The similarities between our peoples are truly profound and consequentially serve to make the differences all the more shocking. It is as though our modern day societies took our collective cultural experiences, all of our shared histories and learned from it completely different lessons.
One could expect then A feeling of alienation upon(?) the subjects of our studying. This is not so. Our researches have instead, come to identify very strongly with their counterparts on the other side of the curve(? current? not sure). The rhythm we seem to occupy seems to be a long period of comfortable familiarity, with a counterpoint of sudden(?), and often shock, culture shock..."

Hope you enjoy it! Oh, the video shows a person driving through a city.

The page was updated Cool

For what its worth, my guess:

Quote:

There is a theme that is risen again and again in our studies across all relevant disciplines. The similarities between our peoples are truly profound and consequently serve to make the differences all the more shocking. It is as though our modern day societies took off collective cultural experiences, all of our shared histories and learned from it completely different lessons. One could expect then a feeling of alienation from the subjects of our studies, this is not so, our researchers have instead come to identify very strongly with their counterparts on the other side of the curtain.
The rhythm we occupy seems to be a long period of comfortable familiarity, with a counterpoint of sudden and often shock, culture shock.

Video!

Quick notes on the audio transcript... a couple of minor corrections/differences from the one just posted.

Researches, is, believe researchers. And it is from, not upon.
The end sounds like sharp, culture shock.

My transcript looks like this:

There is a theme that is risen again and again in our study, across all relevant disciplines. The similarities between our peoples are truly profound and consequently serve to make the differences all the more shocking. It is as though our modern day societies took our collective cultural experiences... all of our shared history... and learned from it completely different lessons. One could expect then, a feeling of... alienation from the subjects of our study. This is not so. Our researchers have, instead, come to identify very strongly with their counterparts, On the other side of the ???? (crack?) (Crane?) (Current?) (credit?) (curve?). The rythym we occupy seems to be a long period of comfortable familiarity with a counterpoint of sudden, and often sharp, culture shock.

At least, that's my opinion on what is being said. No idea on the what the other side thing is.

Speculating, the blank areas may be filled in with clues from the newspapers. Possibly TV or radio spots.

I can grab a copy of USA today, if no one else does. Fortunately, they keep it right outside the building I work in Laughing
