Big update to the puzzle, including dropped periods, changed numbers, and new stuff in the source:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
<!-- the dictionary is only place where success comes before work -->
<!-- there is no substitute for hard work -->
<!-- i like work, it fascinates me, i can sit and look at it for hours -->
<!-- i like kitties a lot!!! i want a kitty today and then two more tomorrow, and then i want that for a whole week thats a lot of cats! yaaay kitty! -->

The dropped punctuation led me to mess with the directions, and note:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There are exactly 256 (16 squared) letters in the recipe.

Testing some sort of "letter position" theory, then:

123456789*123456789*123456789*123456789*123456789*

1, 2, 4, 16, 256
P, O, R, T, E

1, 2, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, 196, 225, 256
P O R S T O W P O O I M P N S E E

1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256
P O R C T I O S E

Nothing too useful. "Porte" is French for "gate" or "sublime gate"

French, short for Sublime Porte, literally, sublime gate; from the gate of the sultan's palace where justice was administered

but I haven't got anything useful out of trying /gate or /sublimegate or /sublimeporte and so forth.

Omnie and I did some experimentation by using the decimals in the ingredients list as Row.Column or Column.Row notation. Anybody got any ideas?

Decimal places? Recipes tend to use fractions, and no '_.0', in my experience, even when there is one that uses decimals. Maybe something to do with the numbers? Though I can't see what it could be.

I'm sure that the numbers are important, but XX.0 can be used in recipes. That's a sign of a recipe for mass commercial use. That recipe clearly doesn't fit in that category, however.

taking it as XY coordinates, I come up with either HBSDT or OITOA, neither of which is it. Tis a though,. though...

Yeah, I tried that earlier today.
It gives either "hbsrt" (if coord = x,y)
or "oitoa" (if coord = y,x)
both of which do not make any sense to me, unfortunately.

M.

edit: sorry about the double post.

Okay, the math when you follow the directions is:
1.6 (2) + 4.7 = 6.3
4.7 + 8.055 + 3.15 = 15.905
x2 = 31.81
+3.14 = 34.95

If you add all the numbers, including the 2, and rounding the 34.95 up to 35, you get exactly 256.

1, 6, 2, 4, 7, 4, 7, 8, 55, 3, 15, 4, 7, 8, 55, 3, 15, 3, 14, 35

What I'm doing right now is counting the letters in the grid and taking the a+nth=x letters, where a=the last x and n=the current number, if that makes any sense. The 1st, 7th, 9th, 13th, 20th, etc... letters.

For example, taking the first two lines of the grid and going back and forth starting from the top left:
Code:
p1  o   u   r   c   h   o6  c   s2  y   r   u   p4  i   n   t
o   a7  l   a   r   g   e   b   o4  w   l   a   n7  d   m   i

And so on gives you 'pospnoaehnhdrseilhre'. Back and forth from the bottom right gives you 'ensutinlchpsawtluest'.

in some way? For instance, she's really saying "Bork comes before sucess?"

Looks like we might be back to Porte as the answer. I still haven't got any urls, though. Anyone else want to try running through the permutations?
