[ARG?] Ares Station ARGN received this email this morning:
Quote:
Subject: 49276D20696E76697369626C652E
I walk through the plastic halls. I see you on your blue planet so far away. Your whispers, once a week bursts, tell me you think my home is your salvation.
Rejoice! Rejoice! You will use us, downtrodden miners and sterile scientists, as a stepping stone to the great beyond.
You don't see us as people at all. You should be ashamed.
Just like her .
Orbital Colony? Something else?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The subject line is hexadecimal ASCII, which translates to:
I'm invisible.

Look! A contest! http://www.aresstation.com/recruit.html
The existing entries are fun. :j
Plus, the poster has a barcode on the bottom! Barcodes are always puzzles, right? RIGHT???
Anyways, in the ares station forums, a NoMan (with a blank red avatar pic) apparently posted a block of gibberish:
Quote:
[Post removed: This sort of gibberish is not condoned by AIB, Inc. If you continue to post your doggerel, your account will be suspended.]
Perhaps it was some sort of puzzle, eh? Eh?
Anyways, the subject of the post is
49276D20696E76697369626C652E,
which as Space shows above is hex ascii for "I'm invisible" again.
Wonder what this is all about?

From MaxEaton's blog :
Quote:
AIB representatives, let me be the first to say how much we miss junior research assistant Jacob Jones.
and later

On the blog, the dates are listed in Archives as September 2004, November 2005, and August 2006. The latest post appears to be from August 6, 2006.
Ninja edit: A Google search for Ares Station turns up a Star Trek page. The link 404s, but the cache has some information about it within Star Trek. At a glance, it appears to be out of game.

There people living on Ares Station have a public blog called The Sentinel which is quite cool.
Especially this one post:

Max Eaton later complains that the system made it into gibberish. In any case, it's not ROTed, and it's not Vigenere with "crystal" as the key.
It's got some repetitions in it that suggest it's a simple substitution, so I'ma work on that.

Here's a blog to watch: http://www.blogger.com/profile/7336963
The AI-ish sounding comments on Hanna's blog lead there.
