Decision to Disallow Private Registrations for .US Domains

Any PM who's thinking of using GoDaddy or another of the registrars that allow you to hide their personal info from WHOIS behind a Private Registration should take a look at this website:

http://www.thedangerofnoprivacy.com/

The NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration) has decided that Private registrations are no longer allowed for any domains registered with the domain suffix .US. Privacy issues aside, this means that PMs will no longer be able to hide Meta-data and personal contact info for the world (and spammers) to see.

So be warned! By January 2006, all personal info related to .US domains will be made public. Any PMs who are planning their websites should be aware of this change, so that they don't accidentally expose themselves to the world.
