Does it mean that we have to use a POST request to authenticate?

yep goodwork guys/gals

we kinda saw these at the beginning, but then they mysteriously dissapeared with the closing of the archives so executive decision was that a) wasnt important or b) we werent ment to see it...

either way, you guys solved it the thinking players way, kudos. Very Happy

so either it is important, and the titles mean something. or its just a sneak peek at future articles which can be accessed with key

I've tried to find all the files from the Receda Focus page using 15 characters, then both headline and 1st line of article. No luck

Doesn't the fact that they are all 15 chars long point to us needing to order them one after the other into some kind of rectangular grid, then decoding to some kind of cipher algorithm. For example, rotate each 5 x 5 square of letter anti clockwise to make a readable phrase.

Haven't got time now, will look when I've finished work.

Neither test positive for steg, but I will give them a shot for it tonight.

Where'd you find those?

They were embeded within http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/graphics/oped/senteoped-wide-230.jpg as different JPEG sections.

What tools are you using to test for steg? Got pointers to them? Thanks.

Stegdetect by Outguess.

Are we going to check for stegs in the images at all, or are we just going to be lazy and stupid and wait for some activity? I think we're missing something.

Do you ever have anything nice or constructive to say? Or do you only bash other people's posts? Evil or Very Mad

Speaking of lazy and stupid, have you tried to stegdetect them yourself?

Sorry if I offended you. I haven't meant to bash people's posts, or people themselves. Due to the recent events of the board, I thought I was being organised by pointing out the wiki. I was obviously wrong, was corrected, and edited my posts.

I don't have stegdetect. I can't download it because my hard drive is nearly full, and I don't have the money to buy a new one. I don't consider myself lazy - I've updated a few sections in the Wiki recently with information regarding the Cube and the Timeline, and I've compiled what we know so far in the Perplex City timeline.

Sorry again! Can we just forget about things? Smile

Can you guys please take this outside (the forum). If you want to slag each other off, please do so in PMs and don't drag the rest of us into it Cursing

All the articles are being written by different people, and we have to assume this is a real paper somewhere, so hiding messages in the headlines would be extremely impractical for someone who wanted to get a message to us.

I'm not a journalist and I don't know any personally but, I was always under the impression that the editor wrote the headline for each article. So, each department editor might write the headline which would be approved by the editor in cheif. Pretty thin, I know.

If anybody has a better understanding of newspaper publishing, please correct me.

These are older articles so would be archived by year/month/name in the archive directory most likely.

Masthead initials

Hello everyone, I'm a total beginner at ARGs but thought I'd give this "Perplexcity" thing a try.

Here's a tiny thing that I found while perusing the perplexcitysentinel.com website's masthead : if you take the first letter of the first name of each credited person, in the order listed, you get :

L M G I A J S C A R L E T Y S H

Does anyone think the appearance of SCARLET here could be more than a coincidence ?

Through Google this led me to a quote from N. Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter" that is very unlikely to have anything to do with the game but that I found enjoyable nevertheless :

Quote:
And, as Hester Prynne had no selfish ends, nor lived in any measure for her own profit and enjoyment, people brought all their sorrows and perplexities, and besought her counsel, as one who had herself gone through a mighty trouble.

Wow, interesting find, and looking at the Masthead page again it really stands out.

Perhaps something can be found by rearranging the remaining letters?
