oh, it seems no links point to the "authenticate" page anymore, but to individual pages which contain the "missing key"-text.
might be a trout, but i haven't seen it mentioned yet. Smile
edit: at least the links on teh right side of the page.

Laughing haha! Oh my... if they just did that now, I wonder if it's cuz I talked about that... if so, then it happened within 15 minutes of my posting it... holy crap... they must really be paying attention to these forums if that's true...

Fi? Wink hehe

edit: except that, it's just to main sections, not yet individual stories... a lot of links still go to /authenticate

Didn't see this anywhere, so I figured I'd post it up. Here's the Javascript controlling the adverts:

Perplex City Sentenel wrote:
function getSkyScraper() {
no = Math.random()*2
return('<image src="/graphics/ads/160-600/' + Math.round(no) + '.gif" />')
}

function getBanner() {
no= Math.random()*3
return('<image src="/graphics/ads/468-60/' + Math.round(no) + '.gif" />')
}

function getSquare() {
no= Math.random()*2
return('<image src="/graphics/ads/250-250/' + Math.round(no) + '.gif" />')
}

I had to spell out the img tag so it would display on the forums. My attempts to look into the graphics idrectories just gt redirected to the home page.

I found it interesting that the dates for each horoscope sign were from the 11th of one month to the 10th of the next... 1's and 0's, ala binary. 10 and 11 are the only days of the month that would work for that (as opposed to, say, January 2nd to February 1st). Also, given that ALL of the signs start and end on the same numbered days, what does this say about their calendar? Do all the months have the same number of days? How many days in a month, exactly? In a year, then?

I think it's interesting that throughout the site, years are given in PPC time as well as in our time. Was this something on the PM's part to tell us that PPC was indeed from a parallel universe rather than another time? Or do different populations of Perplexians use different calendars (Cubists vs. Non-Cubists)?

The graphical image of Sente makes me wonder if PPC isn't necessarily in an alternate dimension, but rather it's an advanced computer simulation running somewhere.

Well, they did say that we have a shared history, but at some point that history split and we each moved forward on our own. Since the Cube is an archaeological object, it seems natural that its discovery is the point of that split. Also, the mods posted a pic of a wormhole during the pre-game stuff...I'm thinking it's definitely parallel. That's why they also waited until the last update to give us the PPC year that corresponds to our current date.

(But I do think they put 2005 on the site by mistake.)

I've just tried emailing Sylvia Hyun the Foriegn affairs editor, and got a spam rejection back. Does this mean that it is possible to email them if the content/context/name is right (ie operational email server) or that there is no email server? Thanks for someones help in advance!!!!

I just noticed that the "Perplex City Sentinal" banner and many of the section header images are located in the www.perplexcitysentinel.com/furniture/ directory. (not accessible btw)

For example the "Perplex City Sentinal" banner is located at:
http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/furniture/sitewide/banners/frontpage.png

I know we've had some discussion regarding what "furniture" could possibly mean. Most likely, the /furniture/ directory is just a directory where the publisher of the Sentinal keeps certain recurring content. In other words, it most likely means nothing. Rolling Eyes

I remember this happening on a previous website if I correct... Confused

Anyway I think there is more to The 'Futures' than we think
Also if Kiteway is taken out of office then what would happen?

on emails, i tryed sending emails to various permutations of the names. mine came back Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 10): 553 sorry, relaying denied from your location [64.233.170.195] (#5.7.1)

hmm, from running a google, looks like someone is using a mail program to pull all the emails going to that address, and its goofing up.

How annoying is it to have a day at work with no net access on the best day to be at home in front of the pc. I sat on the bus this morning clutching my torn out advert thinking "ooo 9 hours time..."...

Anyways, having missed the day looking through the site, has anyone emailed one of the addresses we point our key at but using the 24 digit number as the subject?

Apologies if this has already been covered, have read through all the pages in the last 20 mins or so and didn't see it mentioned.

The links on the side of the page have been pointing to specific pages with the Key text since this morning, sometime around 9 Est was when I first checked the page and they were already like that, so they were probably put up like that.

this might be a touch off topic since this discussion seems to moving toward the technical, however, i noticed two interesting things while reading The Sentinel today. First is, they have the concept of heaven. "Crispy Heaven", which I guess is a fast-food joint there uses the term "heaven" to indicate the best, or the highest. Similar usage to how it is commercially used on Earth.

Second is, whomever stole this thing has to be a member of the Academy. The editorial indicates that Earth is a place only the Academy knew existed, let alone could communicate with. And this was a year ago. So I'm thinking it's got to be an inside job because only an Academy member would know of Earth to take the Cube here.

Basiclly its hitting a server that hasnt got the email account on, and it refuses to send it on....usually badly configured servers or the mailserver isnt setup for that domain yet.
