the only interesting thing i found from looking at the source of that picture is that it seems as though they have been working on that image since the 28th of February, and some last minute changes were made to the actual size or clipping area of the image on the 20th of this month.

apart from that, nothing interesting to note.

Well, there is always the scary thought that they'll use some sort of regular updates - like, twice, or even once ( Shocked ) a week. Then we won't even know whether we are or aren't missing something for a few days.

From speaking in the IRC channel, I know that people have tried destegging images, but it's revealed nothing. CHILL printed every page, but no clues were revealed. The source code for each page seems normal. Surely, lots of people have checked everything out, but haven't posted because there's nothing to write abuot.

I think we're all just at a loss for what to do next. :\ We're spec-ing that the next Sentinel update is on the 28th, though.

I agree, nothing more that I can think of (for the time being) to do...So I am going to just sit back and wait until the 28th.

Anthrax actually found 3 images within Sente's picture:

http://www.anthrax101.info/senteoped-wide-230a.jpg
http://www.anthrax101.info/senteoped-wide-230b.jpg
http://www.anthrax101.info/senteoped-wide-230c.jpg

but he couldn't find anything interesting in either one of them. It seems that this might be a Photoshop artifact (where PS embeds the original image into the saved image, when the original is being... er, photoshopped. That probably explains all the weird Adobe and Apple stuff).

The actual image parts of A and B are identical, up to the EXIF info. They have different EXIF data. A also contains C, which appears to be the full image that is rendered when viewed.

Neither test positive for steg, but I will give them a shot for it tonight.

What tools are you using to test for steg? Got pointers to them? Thanks.

HTML Endings

Haven't seen this earlier, but what about the strange naming convention (or lack thereof) of HTML documents?

sente_kiteway_s.html
crispy_heaven_v.html
nuru_ejected_fr.html
centrifuge_buys.html
northside_prese.html

These might stand for "Sente Kiteway should," "Crispy Heaven violates," "Nuru Ejected from," ("Centrifuge Buys"), and "Northside presents," but that might be being generous. Each article is 15 characters (including underscores) long...it's probably nothing, but perhaps there's something more here?

Nice observation, don't know if they are actually clues or not, but I think your thinking along the right lines. Someones got their lateral thinking hat on!

... wait a sec, you haven't been experimenting with cognitive enhancers such as Ceretin have you? Rolling Eyes

It is a little odd that they're all 15 characters long. That's obviously a choice and not a coincidence (the probability that they all happened to be 15 characters in length is very, very small). So it's definitely a convention.

So there's two possibilities:

1. 15 character html names are just a way to tell article names and other pages on the site apart. It's possible; other pages, named more conventionally, are most likely going to be significantly less than 15 characters, so in a listing of all the pages on the site, the articles will stick out (literally).

2. There's actually some deeper meaning. It's, again, possible, but a little less probable. That would mean every headline contained a secret message, and why would that be? All the articles are being written by different people, and we have to assume this is a real paper somewhere, so hiding messages in the headlines would be extremely impractical for someone who wanted to get a message to us.

Did you e-mail them from your yahoo e-mail address? If so, then you're receiving a "failed to deliver" message (for example, I am getting mine from gmail). I think the failure delivery message is specific to the mail carrier - not to the perplexcitysentinel site. For example, mine, among other things, says:
Quote:
Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 10): 553 sorry, relaying denied from your location [IP removed] (#5.7.1)

In other words, this has nothing to do with "keys" Smile

This is what i received back when trying to send a letter. Notice it mentions domain keys. Ah well, it was a thought.

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Giving up on 64.202.166.12.

Sente has directed us here. He needs a method of communicating to us that other people can't get at (other people being other researchers at the Academy as according to the articles the general public of PPC only has their say so that we exist). An innocuous paper (to them) that can be altered subtly by Sente so as to indicate something to us without attracting notice would be ideal.

If this is true then we would already have been provided with the info necessary to dig this out of the Sentinel.

What worries me most is that we are mentioned in the Sentinel as being recruited to help find the cube, so whoever has it knows this.

What also worries me is that songofthephoenix's avatar is so mesmerising that it takes me twice as long to read threads that it's been posted on! Very Happy
