Puzzles & 15 character files

I wondered if the 15 character file name could be carried further, and tried it out with http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/puzzles/words/ and several variations of crossword and Monday 21 March 2005 as both numbers and letters. Didn't get anywhere though.

Earlier when I was trying out the Receda Cube focus page files I did do it with the archive file dates adjusted for the month & year, for both the first line of the article, and the headline, didn't help though.

Has anyone attempted to access this site via some sort of hand held? Pocket PC, Palm, Cell phone w/ wireless web? Not having access to this technology at this time, I can't try it myself.

I doubt that that would be the only way to access deeper into the sight. An ARG of this magnitude wouldn't want to limit it's player base due to a technology restriction. However, it's worth a shot I think.

tested on sprint sanyo 8200 (red) on web it comes up
but i haven't found any diffrence except the formating is alll laid out diffrently cause the screen is only 320 x ? or so

Some of looked at the CSS, HTML, and javascript behind the site. I didn't find anything which is checking for browser identification, using CSS modes for different content, or anything else of that nature.

The site is written in XHTML 1.0 + CSS, so it should render nicely no matter what its viewed with.

The subscriptions page says

Quote:
Short-term subscriptions cost a reasonable PCL70 a week, or you can save with our year-long subscription for only PCL2,350.

This is either a steep discount (nearly a third!), or they don't have as many weeks in a year as we do.

Ok, I think I may have found something...but then again don't get your hopes up...

I was looking at the links from the front page that take you to the relevant page of the article...and was trying to figure out if there is a naming convention they use...(because if we know that, then we could maybe find the urls for the rest of the articles)...

Here is what I have so far, but I havn't properly analysed anything yet...

-- truncated this part as it was too lengthy --

thing is, i cant see a patter for the other two articles, apart from the fact that the surname of the author of the article start with a 'v', and the url is
archives/2005/03/crispy_heaven_v.html
and archives/2005/03/centrifuge_buys.html is the actual headline...

hopefully this post will prove useful...

Your post interested me, i'm sorry if someone else already has done this, but I actually put this all together on one page.

http://www.whataboutpp.com/arg/urls.html (See Link Below)

Edit:

http://whataboutpp.com/arg/url.php

I've made it more organized with a header, also just made a script at the top to easily test pages instead of having to load them all. If I notice people abusing it then i'm going to take it down.. it's just a simpler way to see if the page you were going to check exists or not.

a third to a half is normal with subscriptions. (they charge advertisers based on subscription numbers, so they more than make it up.

I honestly think it is a mistake and they forgot to index the directory. If you notice in all of the directories they have for every website it all has the same protection, it'll just instantly refresh you back to "/" which is main public html directory.

But I guess that lets us know that they haven't put anything up for January, February, or April lol.

Which kind of makes the second "The Cube Theft" kind of dumb because:

http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/focus/recedacube/

January 15, 2005

Would be /2005/01/.

Guess it doesn't exist... anymore.. Rolling Eyes

LOOK! A KEY, A KEY!

<-- ta da!

Wink Okay...so it's just a small .gif from a standard set of icons located in this subdirectory:

http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/icons/small/

But that's at least two more directories we can see. Curious, the small icons folder/directory is the only thing most recently updated, on March 18, 2005..hmph!

Test Mechanism:
Sony Clie TJ-37 with Palm OS 5.1(Sony)
running
Netfront 3.1 Web Browser for Palm

Results:
Page renders correctly, in all three view modes. No hidden or additional content.
