Updated my script, http://whataboutpp.com/arg/url.php .

Added a few more links with file names. It seems like a pretty steady pattern with file names, but it really doesn't look like there are hidden pages right now, just pages that aren't up yet. I don't think they were ready and are resorting to some last minute fixes before continuing with whatever they are going to do with this page.

PCBC bank gif

I have no idea if this is relevant or not, but if you open up this PCBC advert file in Notepad:

http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/graphics/ads/250-250/0.gif

you get a list of text and numbers at the bottom that don't correspond to any of the other advert gifs. Look closely and the word 'bank' is in there. It's preceded by 'iQ' as well, but I'm not sure if that's just a coincidence or not.

Can anybody else see what I mean? I hope it's not just me who thinks there might be something there.

I actually don't see that when I open it. Just junk text like "ôÒL7íôÓ%" Are you sure it's not just how Notepad is coincidentally interpreting the image?

Damn. I tried to save the file from the site again with a different name and open it in Notepad and the bit I saw isn't there anymore, though I don't know why. I'm not sure what I did to get it the first time. Sorry about that. I'll put the bit below that stood out anyway:

Well, the output you get from gifs depends on the encoding you tell notepad to use, it would be another dropdown box underneath the file type box in the open pop up window. It might be set on Unicode or Ansi, check under there and see what encoding you had it opened as.

Well it's doing the same thing with Wordpad and Microsoft Word without prompting.

The thing I can't explain is that I saved this file on Thursday, by Save Image As called PCBC - it's 11Kb. The one on the site now is 7kb. I'm absolutely sure I haven't done anything to the first file in the meantime.

Sorry, I'm not too technically minded to know more than just the basics, so there's probably a simple explanation. I don't really want to sound too stupid before the game's really started. Man, these ARGs make everyone paranoid.

Well how do you decide where it starts, where it ends, and how long it is. It all makes a difference. My guess was based on w== which could end a base64 string.

But anyway I don't think it's a real puzzle, but it's just something to figure out on the side.. where did the characters come from! Notepad artifact? hmm

notepad is notorious for messiing up files if there was something hidden it would more likely be readable in hex

i scanned this file it looks like the same encoding as a normal gif

Maths, I'm afraid, is beyond me. English, however, is not:

I think that you shall never be as smart as those who know base three.

Don't know what to use it on or how to do it but isn't this a clue?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's something on my end considering nobody else got it. Here it is anyway:

your pic contains this extra in the source:

bah wont copy paste. try this :

basically go to original image, view its source, the last line you should see is
(scroll down three times on mouse wheel)
Æžëî»Òjº%´ðÖk/°¤'Ľüöëï¿ (with a lot more pasting and chars)

but your image contains a lot more stuff at the end, same code for three mouse scrolls, then some additional stuff including the base64 apparent.
ive got a pic of it if this is a bit confusing, but i dont wanna waste 250kb Very Happy of the forums bw

EDIT: or just read the top of page 24. in this thread Very Happy
