I looked at this site and think there are some real possibilities here -- at least for who the Sponsor is. Maybe the whole 'Key' thing is the real hook? Exclamation

I think we can close this spec based on the "Djinn Jr. Reported" article:
Quote:
Security experts at Key Surety Inc. have reported finding several keys around the city infected with a worm

If the sponsor was a hard key vendor like the url, they would not want to show any possibilities that their key could be hacked or infected.

too bad, seemd a real contender...

Directives from Sente?

Quote:
The Dice (October 11 - November 10)
Missing a piece of your interpersonal jigsaw is even worse than misplacing your key. This is a good week to take out a personal ad. Go on, it's only your pride.
...
And remember, it's not how you play the game, it's how the game plays you, kiddo.

Are we being told to take out an ad in the Sentinel this week?

Quite possibly, but I only get this reply:
Quote:
Thank you for your interest in advertising in the Sentinel!

Currently, we do not allow advertising by foreign entities. We apologize
for any inconvenience this may cause you. We will update our Classifieds
page should this policy change in the future.

Best wishes,
The Sentinel Staff

Perhaps im not saying the right thing to them though.

If Sente was able to place ads in our papers, maybe he can read ads from our papers.....you don't suppose we're being asked to place an ad in say The Guardian?

Not just yet. The Beast used the term djinn to describe a security AI. When the security djinn malfunctioned, it was because a webpage was "hacked". Hidden in the source code of the hacked page was extra HTML that when combined, revealed a separate page. How much od the source code have we disected? I am looking now

Djinn is like an evil genie if I'm not mistaken. So basically it's just like a name thats supposed to describe it, it's jsut a name. I don't think there's anything special about it, other then the original was extremely damaging to Perplex city.

Tried. Got the autoresponse.

Remember, those who wrote a letter to the editor last week got the autoresponse. The ads might work the same way.

Thinking about keys being possibly not unlike chatters and also the fact that firebox have already featured somewhat in the pre-game...
might it be beneficial to e-mail them enquiring about a new type of device that seems to work like a phone/pager/PDA?

And maybe we could write a letter to The Guardian, rather than place an advert (it'd be cheaper, at least).

If you do a search on Firebox for "the key" you get 62 results, one of which is the cube, with the quote from Zeller, and the link that brings you back to the Forum...

Ho hum... oo the quote from Zeller...

But then, the search probably just homed in on the word "the"... searching for "key" gives 14 results... nothing stands out. Well, maybe the monkey picked tea, but that's another story!

Last paragraph:
"Rowan suggested people continue taking sensible personal safety measures, such as staying in well-lit areas, informing friends and relatives before venturing out alone at night, and making sure your key is close to hand at all times."

therefore the key is a physical object (not an impant or software). The phrase implies that the perplexians don't always carry their keys with them
Why would you want it close at hand in the dodgy areas of town - does the key double up as a weapon/some sort of defense/link to local police?

I've been assuming that a key is somewhat like a phone and thus if anyone gets in trouble they can transmit a signal to the police, although that might not be the right way to look at it.
