It was pseudo-code, just based on PHP. It was as simplified as possible, and there were a lot of things that were not included that you would need to actually make it work as it does on the site. I just posted it because, to the layperson, you were making it sound as if it was a complicated thing to implement.[/quote]
ight, I didn't read over the code in-depth, I just saw what looked like PHP and thought - man, what layperson's gonna understand that? heh
by pseudo-code, I meant something like:
* grab the references and summaries from the database
* place the desired summaries in the resulting html layout
* write the urls as static rather than the real links for any articles (or links) that are toggled to remain hidden
but I guess that's technically not pseudo-code... hopefully any web-guy would know that that process is an easy one to code, in any language... it's so simple that english doesn't really help in describing it, without going into technical detail...
anyway, I'll shut up now
I still don't believe there are any hidden urls or pages - whether we're, in-game, to find them or not, which can be publicly accessible, with or without a key. I believe the content will be physically placed on the website when it's to become available (with or without the solution to a puzzle / authentication)
anyway... back to catching up on threads

Never be quiet! Carpe cube! SENTE!
I think the badge numbers fit with key speculation so here's this:
Quote:
" . . . an groupe of scholars have late taken residence . . ."
"The scholares of Beston cellars . . ."
Both of these are written by deGubas of Malme. My English skills suck. What affect of English is making the second use of the word have an "e' in it? If I capitalize "Scholares" and "Cellars" does it account for the extra "e" or not?
I ask because an "a" was the last letter of the word, then an "e", which could be construed to mean: cipher things. Like badge numbers. ANyone know what's going on with the "e" besides olde English?

English always used to be a little more flexible in its spelling than it is now, partly because of poor literacy levels and partly because it didn't really matter as long as it sounded right. E's could be added on the end at a whim, a flourish, sheer delight in the letter for its own sake. Not sure how this relates to your actual question and the badge numbers though

dr johnson invented correct spelling when he published his dictionary
untill then people just spelled words phonetically -(fonetikly ?) --- shakespeare spelt his own name in many different ways (as i do )
as this dominant way of speech in those days was more gutteral than now dr johnson spelt sight and night etc as they were said -- with a g -- kinda like sicht and nicht
since then weve been stuck with the nonsense of bad spelling = bad english
an english teacher now would fail shakespeare for bad spelling -- the greatest genius in english literature being failed by an upstart teacher )
you may have noticed that i ignore all spelling rules
and most grammer

There is something to be said for spelling though:
Meretricious:
1. Attracting attention in a vulgar manner: meretricious ornamentation.
2. Plausible but false or insincere; specious: a meretricious argument.
3. Of or relating to prostitution
Merry Trishas
1. Tipsy TV Host
2. Drunken greeting during the Christmas season.

Thanks to all who responded: About the spelling of "Scholares" . . .
My point was that this deGubas guy uses both versions. He knows how he spelled it once - why change? It's very striking that his diatribe is about the intelligence of Academy scholars. It seemed like a subtlety that existed for no reason, and so therefore it was a clue. That it involved "e" and "a" made me think of the badges.
Of course I still want to use the "959" on the 50 Pound note to do something too.

Surely with an ARG, where anything could be a code or a clue, spelling's got to be taken just a tiny bit seriously? Otherwise we'd never crack any codes or anything. Maybe there is something in the extra 'a' or 'e', could be a way of attracting attention to it...

Spelled correctly, but "over rated" needs hyphenating...
