The Sentinel site now says March 29th. Anyone know what's different?

SPEC unscramble older clues

I just wanted to mention that there is no "S" in the first mention of "eel and cucumber roll". The second mention of the phrase, at the end of the page pluralises "roll".
That's a bit odd if it's an anagram, you would think the PM would be carefull to keep the phrase intact. If it is an anagram, I would tend to go for the first mention of it as the second one seems more like a reiteration to convince us of the importance of the phrase.

So without the "S", "eel and cumber roll" can give :

CELLULAR NUMBERED CO (CO as in company?)

and

ORACLE NUMBER CULLED

(culled means :
1. To pick out from others; select.
2. To gather; collect. )

not much I know. I'll keep looking...

SPEC eel and cucumber roll anagram

While were at it, here's more :

A COMBED CLUE ERR NULL
CELLULAR CUBE MODERN
CELLULAR CUBE NORMED
CLAMORER CUBE NULLED
CALMER CUBE UNROLLED
COLEMAN BLURRED CLUE
COLLAR NUMBERED CLUE
NUMERABLE CODER CULL
CELLULAR BRUCE DEMON
CELLULAR BRUCE MONDE
CELLULAR CUBE MODERN
CELLULAR CUBE NORMED
CELLULAR NUMBER CODE
CORALLED NUMBER CLUE
CUBE ORACLE DR MULLEN

Some are better than others, none really stand out though, except maybe CELLULAR NUMBER CODE as you mentionned...

Edit : ok I have just spent about 3 hours playing with anagrams with this phrase. Tens of thousands of result can be obtained with the words "clue" or "cube" or "cellullar" in them, specially when we go for anagrams with more than 3 words. I'm thinking this is not the way to go...

It's going to change whenever the date on your computer changes. It's a JavaScript in the code to display the date, but it isn;t tied to the site updating, at least it hasn't yet.

Hmmm. I didn;t notice that. I saw that Rose posted that Hagfish had deciphered "Eel and cucumber rolls" = "Unscramble older clue" and I was saisfied that this was correct - but now that you mention it - we are very likely missing more than 1 answer!

I noticed that earlier and considered possibly that 'sushi' might be in on the anagram... as in "Sushi! have an eel and cucumber roll" possibly more... if, indeed, it is an anagram...

I did a search through this thread for the words "Chasen der Würfel" and no one seemed to have mentioned that it means "Chasen of the cubes" (I don't know whether Chasen is actually a German word, or the person's real name. The fact they used a language outside of English (and an Earth language) is rather odd.

I agree with the folks who have speculated that there are 2 areas that could contain puzzles/clues right now:

1. The names in the masthead (possible anagrams, etc.)
2. The futures pages (March 21 and 2Cool (anagrams, etc.)

The Greek mythology angle on the futures page is very intriguing and the possible anagram that told us to look back at March 21's future page for something we missed seems too obvious to ignore.

So, I decided to do some research on Greek mythology and discovered from the Encylopedia Mythica that "the Titans are a race of godlike giants who were considered to be the personifications of the forces of nature. They are the twelve children (six sons and six daughters) of Gaia and Uranus."

Strange coincidence there are 12 Titans and 12 futures signs/zodiac signs? For reference, the names of the Titans are: Cronus and Rhea, Iapetus and Themis, Oceanus and Tethys, Hyperion and Theia, Crius and Mnemosyne, and Coeus and Phoebe.

I will do some research on these names and see if they synch up with the futures from the 21st or 28th.

and therein lies the question. HOW CLOSE are the timelines? do they have the same old mythology?

also, i might add that the moons of one of the gas giants, i believe saturn, are named after the titans.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but I really think the greek-connection is just us winding ourselves up. Its sounds like too distant a stretch. And even if the futures are based on greek mythology, what does that have to do with anything?

I think we need to wait.
We could anagram every word and sentence and come across literally thousand's of different word's. Then what? we have all of these different word's and meanings and nothing to do with them. We could even study the greek mythology to it's utmost.. still.. we couldn't use it for anything.. well not at the moment at least.

As for the futures.. perhap's these are hint's for future puzzles that will be later revealled by some means in the puzzle section on the sentinel site. Madame Bianca is afterall talking about the future.

The most intriguing thing is the sushi - eel and cucumber roll, and how it will be used for all signs. I don't think it's an anagram because there is wayyyy too many possibilties and each possibilty is just another branch on a tree. ok, to save all the hassle I have personally gone through and found every single anagram and tried every single outcome of what it could be, the thousands of combinations the letters create.. then for each different outcome I tried it as domain names directory structures, sub domains, and riddles, blah blah.. it only took me ten thousand years. ok, well.. you get the point =) it would be easy to bash out the RSA with a good lead pencil and unlimited supply of paper than to have Sente say eel and cucumber roll is an anagram (or did he mean with an 's'? *starts again*). =P

I think we need a brighter torch before we walk too far stumbling in the dark, a lock to fit the key. =)

via the wondrous medium of comic books i gather that the titans are 6 couples, the god and goddess as it were of 6 different elements, which i think are, sun, earth, water, moon, fire and air. all sorts of complicated incestuous mythology goin on with them. this link complicates things further saying there was more titans than the traditional 12, which is probably a little more accurate than the DC version but still, nothing i can see matches up.

rach =)
