The signs in our zodiac correspond to star constellations. Many of the names of the constellations are derived from Greek mythology. Whether or not it's actually a puzzle or clue, it seems as though Perplex City's zodiac signs are derived either from Greek mythology or star constellations as well.

If we go the mythology route:
+ The Eagle - Zeus (or Ethon, Periphas, Prometheus)
+ The Spider - Arachne
+ The Wave - Oceanus or Poseidon
+ The Archer - Orion (or Apollo, Eros, Padarus, Eurytion)
+ The Half-filled Jug - Ganymede
+ The Dragon - Ladon
+ The Three Balls - ?
+ The Dice - Palamedes
+ The Maze - Minotaur (or Theseus)
+ The Apple-Thief - Heracles (or Atlas)
+ The Hand - Urania
+ The Baby - Astyanax (or Melampus, Hermes, Eumolpus, Cronus)

If we go the constellation route (still working on these):
+ The Eagle - Aquila
+ The Spider -
+ The Wave - Triangulum?
+ The Archer - Orion, Sagitta, Sagittarius
+ The Half-filled Jug - Aquarius
+ The Dragon - Draco
+ The Three Balls - Triangulum?
+ The Dice -
+ The Maze -
+ The Apple -
+ The Hand -
+ The Baby -

Perhaps if we nail down the mythological names or constellation names, the first letter of each will anagram to something useful?

In the absence of any obvious puzzle to solve, it can't hurt to mess around with it for a while.

Inspiration without the means to follow it through

Here's what I just tried

Assuming the 24 digit code is base 9, I converted it to binary in groups of 3 (playing of the triangle clues in the futures section).

The problem I am having is that, even adding a few zeros, where there should be one, the binary is coming out to gibberish. However, I don't really have any experience with this kind of thing, so there is a signifcant chance I may have screwed something up. Punting to the veterans...

Do we assume they have the greek mythology over in perplex City? Do they even have the same constellations?

I think - no chance.
Perplex City citizen's do have a zodiac and it does have similarities to ours.. ours does have similarities to the greek mythology because constellations have been named after greek myth's. Honestly though.. the perplexian zodiac doesn't resemble the greek mythology enough. Apple Thief, Spider, Eagle, 3 balls etc - these sound like stories that would lay behind perplexian mythology, ancient stories from their world / realm.

well the names they have, the language they use and the use of the latin alphabet would seem to indicate a helenic civilisation

I think we need to wait.
We could anagram every word and sentence and come across literally thousand's of different word's. Then what? we have all of these different word's and meanings and nothing to do with them. We could even study the greek mythology to it's utmost.. still.. we couldn't use it for anything.. well not at the moment at least.

As for the futures.. perhap's these are hint's for future puzzles that will be later revealled by some means in the puzzle section on the sentinel site. Madame Bianca is afterall talking about the future.

The most intriguing thing is the sushi - eel and cucumber roll, and how it will be used for all signs. I don't think it's an anagram because there is wayyyy too many possibilties and each possibilty is just another branch on a tree. ok, to save all the hassle I have personally gone through and found every single anagram and tried every single outcome of what it could be, the thousands of combinations the letters create.. then for each different outcome I tried it as domain names directory structures, sub domains, and riddles, blah blah.. it only took me ten thousand years. ok, well.. you get the point =) it would be easy to bash out the RSA with a good lead pencil and unlimited supply of paper than to have Sente say eel and cucumber roll is an anagram (or did he mean with an 's'? *starts again*). =P

I think we need a brighter torch before we walk too far stumbling in the dark, a lock to fit the key. =)

I have to agree with your anagram comment, and I have to say I am immensely impressed by you saying you went through every single anagram. I have spent hours and hours going over anagrams and have found that even when specifying that the anagram results should have cube; clue; cellular or other likely words, the results are in the tens of thousand. Never mind if one does not specify mandatory words to be included. (Which would be the right thing to do as we have no idea what the anagram might refer to, if it's at all an anagram.) My deepest respect, you are a diligent researcher.

On that note, I am also starting to doubt the whole eel and cucumber thingy is an anagram. I am no expert but it is my impression that if the PM had intended for this relatively long phrase to be an anagram, the result would be a phrase composed of 2 or 3 words at most. (I have poured over anagrams composed of 2 to 5 words) More than that and the result are too numerous to sort intelligently. Now when looking at result with 2 or 3 words, no anagram comes out clearly as an answer, except of course for "unscramble older clue" if we use the "s". And thats the final point : Again, IMHO, if the PM wanted the phrase to be an anagram, they would not have two different versions of it.

I do not believe, however, that we should simply wait. I truly believe the game has started, but we are stalling. We have not found an answer to the 24 digit string and the maze, and the Futures really seem to be puzzles to me. We are being told (in the futures) that its time to go back to basics... I might very well be wrong but I think thats where we have to concentrate our efforts. How? I have no idea...

So what, we just expect an update every monday until the 'puzzles' section comes online? Seems a bit spoon-fed to me.

hhmm, are you replying to my posting? I said that I don't think we should wait . I agree with you, we should not wait to be spoonfed. I see a lot of people saying we should play the waiting game. The Sentinel has new material, it's not there just to tease us, we must use it.

Sorry, no. I was referring to the people who have said we are reading into the Sentinel too far. I don't know who is right or wrong here, and the 24-digit-number certainly has been exhausted, so I wasn't talking about that either. I suppose once more we will have to wait and see. *sigh.*

The Sentinel site now says March 29th. Anyone know what's different?

To add my 2p, it now says March 30th. This is in contrast to the whole of last week where the site was fixed on the update date i.e. March 21st.

Was it not coded before, and now is? Probably not important anyway, but...

EDIT: Hmm, thanks A, for the record I did search but not very well! - anyways, pass along here folks, nothing to see here... Embarassed

This has been previously discussed, I'm sure if you did a Search you'd find it. Smile
Happy searching.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but I really think the greek-connection is just us winding ourselves up. Its sounds like too distant a stretch. And even if the futures are based on greek mythology, what does that have to do with anything?

its very important. modern astrology was created based on old zodiac BEFORE the time of the finding of the cube. therefore, it shouldnt be THAT different. figuring out what mythology, and the difference in interpretation, is a big clue towards both understanding the perplexians, and solving the clues.
