The page eventually came up for me, but was terribly unformatted and the images were broken.

my thoughts so far...

1. What's with the front page images of people being sketches? For the Corolla trial it might make sense, being a courtroom sketch. But Sente's was also like that. This is inconsistent with the Ceretin ad using a photograph of a person.

2. Futures & Greek Mythology: My take on this is that the Perplexians have generally embraced science & reason more than we have, though certainly not to an extreme. While not entirely ridding themselves of the concept of astrology, they seem to have replaced names steeped in mythology (e.g. Pisces, Sagittarius, etc) with simple descriptors. In other words, you need to know what Pisces refers to in order to recognize it in the sky. Names like "The Three Balls" and "The Eagle" refer directly to the constellation's shape.

3. perplexcitysentinel.com being down: could this be a hint from the PM's telling us that we already have the information they wanted us to have, and to stop scouring the site for more?

4. Son of Djinn: is some keys are infected, and people use their keys to access their computer systems, and we have a link to their systems via the websites... can we somehow gain access to somebody's infected key, thus gaining access to more?

.... oh man, I just thought of something concerning the Futures. I'll post it in the puzzles thread.

Scoured the site and no updates at all.....are the sentinel and the other PPC sites hosted on the same server? If so, the site was taken down deliberatly since the other PPC sites stayed up.

Not really, all depends on how its wrote, i guess they're using some CMS system, probably bespoke... so it depends on really how the poster adds it to it... all renders the same anyway Smile

But the About source code is the only page that does it. It seems strange that it's formatted that way when none of the others are. Maybe an oversight...I don't know. Anything's worth a look at this stage.

For the record, I tried ROTing the first letter of each line. Nothing came up. Ho hum.

Damn, no updates? Well, only a few more days until the next one. Hopefully the PM's have gotten their act together, and can move us into whatever the Sentinel's going to be used for. Or maybe the down-time was caused by them putting up the mechanism for which they'll be allowing us to enter the "keys" or whatever. Djinn Jr. Possibly? Or, maybe the site will get corrupted by Djinn Jr.?

Arg. I'm getting tired of [spec]ing, and wanting to be seeing some [update]ing.

Sliders, now that is a classic piece of scifi television. Everything did go down hill once the good doctor left though Sad

With all due respect, I think it is we they are waiting on. I haven't had a lot of time to devote to this lately, but the Futures section screams puzzle (both weeks)....and as frustrating as it is sometimes to not figger something out instantaneously, I do so detest being spoonfed.

So let's not blame the PMs as soon as something stumps us. Sometimes these puzzles remain unsolved for weeks/months and we move onto other things according to a loosey-goosey schedule. Nature of the game.

Very Happy

Maybe it is us, but I still can't get the comment on one of the articles out of my head:

Sentinel wrote:

Scarlett said that photography to them is out moded and has lost it's appeal - perhaps like painting generally has to us, for illustrative purposes. Ceretin's use of photography in its adverts is for style - photography allows precision. Ceretin's supposed to provide that clarity. It's a choice of style.

There's plenty of adverts in our world that employ out-dated styles for impact, to describe their product visually.
