Ascendency Point. It reads like a noun, an object. I would guess something big with mass, to the point of being the size of a planet but one that is, for some reason, not counted in the Futures calculations.

[spec]
the Ascendency Point is a big orange swirly thing in space "me? go in there? hell no, it will clash with my outfit" Wink (hmm that reference might be a bit confused)
Anyway it is how to get from perplex city to Earth. Again I am going back to my other spec about curve versus curtain and the picture that was posted of a folded over space time.
Basically the Ascendency Point is what the cube does to space time allowing travel between different parts of space time
[/spec]

Apparently eel and cucumber roll is 'UNAKYU MAKI'. I am going to go with this. However, I have no idea what to do with it. =/

"Acendency Point" sounds an awful lot like a LaGrange point to me.

shows
Scarpa/ scarper as rhyming with "to run off"

which I guess give an indication of the "Cockney" pronunciation of "scarper" or is it the pronunciation of "off"

From Scapa Flow - Go. Scapa would be pronounced more like scarper in cockneyland. In Scotland it's pronounced with a very soft a sound with no "r" sound at all.

I'm sorry if I sound nitpicky Embarassed but there's a extra "u" too make the vowel long : unakyuu maki. (You wont see it with the extra U in America because japanese chefs don't bother with correct prononciation on their menu, but you would not see it without the long U in Japan.)It's a contraction of unagi (eel) and kyuuri (cucumber) maki means roll. (It's written like this is japanese, you need IME to see it : うなきゅう巻き ). Today's japanese lesson is even accompanied with a picture for your viewing pleasure (YAY!)

OMG OMG! unikyu maki (as spelled in the west) is an anagram of "Im a nu uk yak." (I'm a new U.K yak.) It's a Tibetan conspiracy to replace the old english cows with yaks. Ever heard of mad yak disease? Didn't think so.. Dunce

(Cue to roll eyes Rolling Eyes )

First off I think Acendancy Point (I'm not a gud speler) is only a mountain or hill. If it was a massive object in space then it would obviously have more gravitational force on them then planets. That wouldn't make her point, but if it was a hill on the academy then it would support the argument against futures.

Also all the dates for the Perplexian Zodiac Signs go from the 11th of one moth to the tenth of the next. thats 11 and 10. Could it be pointing to binary?

Futures and sushi SPEC

This is total spec and my first post, so forgive me for my "floundering" but maybe the futures are pointing us to a specific location, i.e. a sushi restaurant? The word "scarper" makes me feel like going somewhere.

The area around Chapel Hill where some postcards (shuffle...at weekly card game) were found is called the Triangle. (Triangles are a go.)
Through a google search I found sushi place called Carolinia Sushi & Roll that has a graffiti wall that customers can write on.
Is anyone living near there in the mood for sushi?

Not to mention it contains the word "carp".

Something is definitely fishy. *grooooan*

Could the new letter saying that people take futures too seriously be referring to us, are they saying that we shouldn't sweat the futures?

It was written by a player, not a PM, so I wouldn't look too much into the letter.

I wouldnt blow it off entirely, either. to suggest a letter written by a player is unimportant is like suggesting hmrpita fFreeing the princess was unimportant. (sorry fFor those who have no idea what i'm talking about, here)

what i mean to say is, the sentinel is reflecting back to us what we are doing, just as we are reflecting back to them. we are both interacting together on important levels. It's how the game plays you.

Don't discard what letters get printed. they are chosen fFor printing fFor a good reason, and we would do well to take heed of what they say. always remember and never fForget, this is not game. every one and every thing is in it. Ian Shivuto's letter last week is just as important as Eclectic Munk's letter this week.

You're absolutely right. I meant that the letter wasn't carefully structured by a PM, so I wouldn't look into it for deep meaning. But, you're right, the PM could very well have chosen that letter to convey information.

I think this is a brilliant idea Beri. Its in keeping with the "go out there and get some clues" theme of the game so far (Abbey road and NY Library)

Instead of the endless armchair spec on every word printed (of which I am guilty) maybe we need to think of clues pointing us to real world locations.

I like your thinking Beri.

I can't help feeling the base3 remark links in to the structure of most of these futures - there seem to be either 3 sentences or 3 obvious sections to a lot of them, - how about each of them giving a word/letter/number which would then form some kind of solve? Been trying to find the pattern all week which either means it isn't there or I am as stupid as I first thought....
