The apple-thief is consistent in theme; the "roses are red, violets are blue" phrase seems to trace back to The Faerie Queene, which was very similar in subject to A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Actually, there's a better common factor: the word "summer." It appears in all three poems.

Futures
By Madame Bianca, for the week of March 28.
The Eagle (March 11 - April 10)
Floundering? Out of options? Do what I do when trouble hits: Sushi! Have an eel and cucumber roll; it brings you luck.

The Spider (April 11 - May 10)
The Archer has you in her sights. Should your subdolous ways slip, she'll snarl. Scarper.

The Wave (May 11 - June 10)
Shuffle your way to heaven at your weekly card game. Bet big. Triangles are go.

The Archer (June 11 - July 10)
The fruits of your labor are sour. Taking up arms is never suggested, though it is often appropriate. Just don't forget to take backup.

The Half-filled Jug (July 11 - August 10)
Great minds think alike, so get together with a like mind this week. Let two halves make a sphere.

The Dragon (August 11 - September 10)
Your fiery nature ignites a skirmish against a rival team. Funnel your energies into something positive, and stop it. You know, before someone loses an eye.

The Three Balls (September 11 - October 10)
You seem to be in a bit of a bawdy phase. Doesn't seem like a lasting turn. The slightest overstepping of your boundaries will turn you prim again.

The Dice (October 11 - November 10)
Missing a piece of your interpersonal jigsaw is even worse than misplacing your key. This is a good week to take out a personal ad. Go on, it's only your pride.

The Maze (November 11 - December 10)
Unexpected ventures haven't turned out well for you. It's time to get back to basics. Traditional values are on the rise.

The Apple-Thief (December 11 - January 10)
I think that you shall never be as smart as those who know base three.

The Hand (January 11 - February 10)
Your newfound spirit of independence has opened many portals. Pay no heed to those who would direct your course; use your own internal compass.

The Baby (February 11 - March 10)
You are as beautiful as a flower. Why do you let this ugly-minded person make you dinner? (Eel and cucumber rolls can be lucky for all signs, really. Yum.)

And remember, it's not how you play the game, it's how the game plays you, kiddo.

Considering this, perhaps scarper refers to the spider? The whole fast movement, and escaping...

This is a variation of the Chinese proverb "You won't help shoots grow by pulling them up higher."

The use of "children" in lieu of "shoots" seems to imply the collective "us" based on the word "kids" found in the Futures.

My take on the Chinese proverb changed to reference us seems to be saying that the PM's will not make whatever clue(s) that we've already been provided, but cannot find/interpret, any easier/clearer for us because then we will not "grow." The use of "grow" as a synonym for expanding our understanding or knowledge.

Heh, one of the futures could say "There is no puzzle here" and that wouldn't stop you.

Endgame can't come too soon for you, eh? Take some time to really explore your world fully now. Breathe it in while you still have a chance.

I'm reading this as a note from the PM's: 'we've got plenty of fun stuff lined up for you, don't worry, but for now, do some SPEC'ing, flesh out your concepts and ideas'. I think we're being encouraged to rev the engines and spin the wheels so we can hit the ground really, really running...

[TRIVIA] Lorelei Park

Remember Lorelei Park, of Park Realty Corporation? And remember "I think that you shall never be as smart as those who know base three"? Well, the poem being parodied in that Future was by Joyce Kilmer - and the most famous feature of Joyce Kilmer Park is the Lorelei fountain. Probably a coincidence, but you never know.

The fountain is currently at the south end of the park, which would seem to contradict this theory, since Lorelei was interested in Northside Preserve, but it used to be at the north end.

[EDIT: merged with the Futures thread. yanka.]

Shouldn't we be separating this thread into the various Futures puzzles (ie, by week)? I only point this out because we've solved one Futures puzzle and not any others.

Not sure whether there's anything in this at all...at all, but:

put me in mind of the autoresponder in pre game (not pre pre game) and some of the spec around it http://tinyurl.com/65rer specifically the website that I pulled from nowhere http://www.begrown.com

Checked recently and this is now partially formed...but no indication of in gameness whatsoever. Posting for closure. Smile

Hi People,

I'm new to this - but i think i am getting up to speed OK. I have been looking at these futures for a while and if you look back over the last 3 weeks worth - especially in the first and second futures - it sounds to me that they are talking directly to one of us. Would this be possible.
If you read it and really feel they are talking to you personally - can you speak up and let me know.
For example,
Quote:
The Eagle (March 11 - April 10)
Heel, boy! You've been coming down pretty hard on your group. Step back, breathe, and remember - it's only a game.

Quote:
The Three Balls (September 11 - October 10)
Your team is spinning its wheels, and you're leaving them hanging. You're the ideas person, so get cracking!

Etc - I'm not going to list them all - because the more i read them - the more i think this. There are references to different "people" in each entry for example
Quote:
The Spider (April 11 - May 10)
The Archer has you in her sights. Should your subdolous ways slip, she'll snarl. Scarper.

This is probably a really stupid first post! But i will get better.[/b]

First off.. Hi verbloten =)

Madame Bianca may be talking to someone in particular. However, she uses plural in clue's. I think she is speaking to the 'collective us' and possibly some of the futures may be inside jokes and references to PM's. *shrugs* Also, if it was just one person.. that person would have to be born in multiple months =P

This got some rusty cogs turning inside of my skull. From my knowledge everyone has been looking at the futures and seeking clues etc by reading the futures as one article (which is how the patience kids clue was found). Why would we need to be patient? Why can't we have the clue's now? I feel that we are given segments to the clue's over time. Instead of viewing the futures weekly.. we should be viewing them by Symbol and placing them together that way. I believe each symbol will be in reference to a puzzle for that symbol alone.

Either that or Madame Bianca is bombarding us with so much data it will be a challenge to sift through it and determine which is useful and which isn't.

No what i mean is that someone here is talking about a certain direction to take and the PMs have labelled him/her as The Archer. So when i future says for The Archer "you are on the right track" or "you are cold" it is a hint to us that that person is on the right track or not etc.

Take the most vocal people in the forum and find out which one is which "star sign". Then we use the future for that star sign combined with the theories that person is espousing and we see the direction to take?

but i dunno!

EDIT: For example did someone in the week of March 14 to March 21 come up with some theory that they were really really sure of and got knocked down to size by the forum? Were they being a bit "know-it-all"?

So there's this rumor going around that you just suffered a rather devastating blow to your ego. You've kind of had it coming. But don't fret, you'll bounce straight back.
