[OOG] Advert for Electronic Ouroboros? http://www.portagame.com has a link on to the right to the Virgilkingofcode.com website, strange enough it doesn't talk about the game as an ARG but a view on 21st century gaming.
Edit: Merged into existing thread with the rest of the ads - Ehsan

Not strange at all. So far, the advertisements have all played themselves out as actual, real-life marketing tools for actual, real-life entities. As we now know, however, the real-life in which those entities exists is actually an Alternate Reality Game.
So, in short, it would make no sense for a company who thinks of themselves as a legitimate company in their reality to be advertising itself as an ARG in our reality . Yes, our reality and the alternate reality have extremely close ties, but they are still distant and separate from each other.

This is the ad that's caused a bit of a stir on the stolena3.com forum. It's also appeared at www.wonkette.com.
The links on the ad lead to LLR but also to stolena3.com, which obviously is an OOG site. Have the PMs made a mistake by doing this? Should ads not differentiate between what's IG and OOG?

in game sites Well, Todd is a character so his board would be in-game in a certain sense.
The problem with differentiating is that most people don't have a clue how to play this game. I know that I stumbled around with Project Mu for a long time before I finally found Unfiction after it ended. Playing an ARG without a community is almost suicidal. The PMs can't direct people here, so they have created an in-game board where people can figure out what has happend and what to do.
The difference between in-game and out-of-game is slowing getting lost on me. Posting links to unfiction may not make everyone happy, but I no longer feel that in games like this it makes such a difference to mention unfiction on the in-game board.
We know Todd is a character and he won't post here. People have argued that if PMs need in-game boards they will create them. So this is an example of the PMs making a board to help people play the game as well as having a character post there.
I know that the Urns game had a similar board and people used it extensively and one player even accused us of copying from their board!

I think the problem with directing people to stolena3.com is that it's not immediately obvious that it's an ARG board. I think that's why those guys were getting wound up. I found some other ads that actually direct to smirkbox, and when you get there you're left under no illusion as to what it is you've stumbled upon
