[META] The envelope please

Congratulations to our nominees, and many thanks to those who submitted nominations. It is now time to cast your votes in the First -- and presumably Last Crying or Very sad -- Annual I LOVE BEES Awards!

Most Likely to Thread-Jack

Favorite Poll

Favorite Pollster

Best Technical Support

Most Obsessed Beekeeper

Most Likely to Get Dumped/Flunk Out of School/Lose Job/Get Divorced as a Direct Result of ILB

All-Around Favorite Beekeeper

(I found that I could not, in good conscience, narrow the "All-Around Favorite Beekeeper" category down to five nominees, because I just couldn't bring myself to eliminate anyone. Sorry. Dunno )

Please send me your votes by PM only. Note that, if a category is absent, it means either that no one was nominated, or that a single nominee swept the category so there is no need for a vote. ("Worst Puzzle" is a good example of the latter. Mr. Green ) As always, post any questions here.

Wait a minute, something seems suspicious here...

Melissa posted on the forum?

I think the game's rigged.

Ditto again.

It's *way* shorter than it would have been if I had to choose.

Oh wait, I still have to choose.

Likewise. I didn't suggest it, because Shad0 already called for PM's to vote. Still, I would rather order my choices in each category than agonize over just one.

shad0

Thanks for setting this up for us Shad0. Looking through this list and considering my vote brought back some really great memories of the game. Very Happy

As for being nominated, I greatly appreciate that honor as well. Playing this game with the community of players here was a wonderful experience for me. I learned so much from everyone, and, like Jane, I found the community interaction to be the most fascinating part of the game. I think we did an amazing job of learning to listen to each other and to work together. We built a powerful game experience in a way that only we could have done. As the PMs noted several times in the post-game chat, our input changed the game, the story and the outcome in many ways. We need never wonder what impact players may possibly have on a story again.

As for voting for the Most Traumatic Game Moment, I am having trouble deciding. The memory of Jan watching Thin kill her father still makes my nose sting and tears well up in my eyes, I guess that is the one. The other two all turned out to be alright in the end, but I still have trouble with James dying. xnbomb told me that we had to accept Jan being caught by Thin as "deus ex machina" but I still wonder how the hell Thin caught her. (My favorite wave story: Thin getting what he deserved from Gillie didn't make the cut here. I am thinking of starting a write-in campaign. Then again, I loved the scene where Jersey has to leave Durga to go alone into the room and Durga's voice cracks. There are so many great moments! Can we have more than one winner? )

Wait, wait. Who dragged my name into this?
I think there are several more qualified puzzlers than I. Unless "best puzzler" means the person who was the most puzzled, in which case, carry on.

Otherwise, thanks for the nomination, oh nominator.
I shall now cast my vote for #beekepers.

How does Melissa thread jack? Unless you count SP posts on ILB....creepy.

Re: [META] The envelope please

A few questions already:

(1) Yes, you can still vote for yourself. Don't worry; I won't tell anyone.
(2) No, you do not have to vote in every category. However, if you do vote, you really have to pick just one of the nominees. Please. (I know it can be tough.)
(3)
thebruce wrote:

Umm...no. Sorry. (Hey, maybe we can do that for the Second Annual ILB Awards!)
(4) I'm sorry, but I think I really shouldn't accept write-in candidates at this point. For the categories with fewer than five nominees: that represents all of the nominees that I received. Yes, there were other excellent puzzles and excellent speculations and so on. No one nominated them.

(If you like, you can console yourself by thinking of the movie "Singin' in the Rain." Despite being widely hailed nowadays as the best movie musical of all time, back in 1952 it not only didn't win any Academy Awards, but wasn't even nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor (Gene Kelly), Best Actress (Debbie Reynolds), Best Supporting Actor (Donald O'Connor!), Best Director, or even Best Song! Go figure.)

SEE! Shocked

Told you it was rigged. Wink

Wouldn't it be ironic if I threadjacked this thread?
