[INFO] [SPEC] Nisha ~ Gunter ~ Ian ~ Audi

Until all of this information/speculation is catalogued elsewhere, here's what I have compiled on the whole "car thing" up to now. Please feel free to move/edit/copy/dissect this where/how/ever you want Mr. Green

Gunter Banderwine: Nisha encountered him while she was doing surveillance for the Mondercan case (a stolen Corot painting). This case was during November-December of 2004. According to Nisha, Gunter probably spotted her then.

Not sure what happened to Gunter, but Nisha managed to retrieve the painting. Then Gunter gets arrested (March 11, 2005). Video here. [edit] Notice that Gunter actually gets into multiple cars. [/edit] There is also a bunch of jpgs on Ian's net, under "Personal Stuff" (look for 03/17/05) - pay special attention to this one - this is Gunter smashing his PDA. Hm... ok, so there was possibly some information on his PDA that he didn't want the cops to see? That wouldn't be so interesting, had it not been for the computers that the cars in that lot are equipped with... bluetooths can have information downloaded into them? (spec © johnny-fiv3)

Ian also has this. This to me looks to be the map of the parking lot. One of Ian's notes is "how many did he bluetooth?" - with two "maybe"s, and the prime suspect identified as going to the New York Auto Show. Then Ian starts gathering the car specs (also under "Personal Stuff"), and, finally, tracking the very car Gunter allegedly "bluetoothed" – the A3. Next he obtains a fake press pass for the show, and persuades Will Star to go with him.

Meanwhile, with Gunter tucked away in a German prison (presumably), Ian is looking for someone to hack the car's bluetooth. He finds CyberGosse, and, without explaining much more than "it's a car [he] need[s] to keep track of", gets CyberGosse to agree to help him.

Alert uF people - notably, AngelAnger - arrive at the aforementioned Audi dealership only to find out that the car has been stolen. They are given this flyer (linky 1, linky 2) - with Ian's picture and the fake name from the press pass - by an Audi rep. All of this happens at around 7pm EST.

Next thing we know, Ian is stealing the car from some chop shop in New Jersey at 11:23pm (of what I presume to be EST) on April 1.

From a voice message from Will, we learn that Will gave up Ian's name - but to whom? possibly to Audi security guys?

In the interim, Audi is busy putting up the "Info About Stolen A3 Wanted" boards, and tracking down Ian.

At 11:23pm, CyberGosse informs Ian that he finished the program Ian wanted, and put it up on Ian's net. While the actual program is nowhere to be found, it is interesting to note that Ian steals the car at the exact same time CyberGosse leaves the message. This has me baffled. Does CB mean "video" by "program"? If not, how are we to explain that Ian finds the message, implements the program, locates the car, and gets himself out to New Jersey within one minute?? Is CB talking about some different program?? Confused [edit] Or did Ian already know where the car was, and CB's program was meant to retreive information from bluetooth - not to locate the car? Then, when the program fails, and information is not recovered, Ian decides to steal the car with the information in it? [/edit]

Next morning Ian calls Nisha and leaves her an incoherent "I did it... but I didn't do it... I'm ok... but I'm not" message.

Bob Needlan of Audi security, tired of having his messages disappear into the voids of phone wires, tells the answering machine that he is ready to turn to the police.

And that's kinda where we're at, at this point. Nisha asked her friend for legal advice, but not much is known beyond that. The most pressing questions seem to be:

- how/when did Ian hook up with Gunter, a known criminal? Did they hook up at all? Or did Ian come across some job Gunter was doing, and decided to track "it" (whatever the "it" is) after Gunter got arrested?
- what did Gunter do to the car's computer/bluetooth?
- whatever it was, has Ian obtained it at this point?
- where is Ian?
- why did he do all of this behind Nisha's back? Was it really just to "prove himself" to her?
- how much does Nisha know?
- what is Virgil's role in this (not in the whole story, but in its latest developments)?

[Another edit: corrected the arrest date]

Just thought i'd put up a little timeline of some of this:

3/11:
Gunter breaks int warehouse, bluetooths several cars, is arrested (this is actually the night of the 11th, not the 12th: the german article is from the 12th but in the first line it says the events happened last night)

3/15:
Ian learns of these events from the automated news clipping source

4/01
Ian steals car as shown in easteregg video

Anyone have any corrections? Thanks!

Ian and Nisha stuff

"- whatever it was, has Ian obtained it at this point?
- where is Ian?
- why did he do all of this behind Nisha's back? Was it really just to "prove himself" to her?
- how much does Nisha know? "

I think the above questions are answered by updates to LLR. (from Angela and Reedog respectively)

There's a new phone call between Ian and Nisha under Nisha's login.

In summary, despite advice to the contrary, Nisha is not going to distance herself from Ian. Ian is *not* trying to prove himself to her, rather he is determined to find out what Gunter did to the cars. Ian still hasn't discovered what "it" is. He won't say where he is yet (wisely). Nisha pretty much knows what Ian knows at this point.

And oh, by the way, Yanka, your analysis is brilliant. Thank you so much for clearing up so many things and making sense of the storm.

The new call from Ian to Nisha confirms a few things:

- Ian stole the car from the guys who stole it
- Gunter put something in there, but Ian doesn't know what it is
- Ian did not hook up with Gunter, I think he followed Gunter's activities to impress Nisha
- Nisha doesn't know anything about this
- Nisha is pissed off Smile

Everything else you wrote seems to be spot-on.

And still this whole CyberGosse tracking thing has me baffled.. CyberGosse says it's in the Personal Folder, and the title fits, but there's a VIDEO in there.. wha??
