Is the combat as boring as gamespot says it is? I was sooo looking forward to the real-time combat on this game ...
IGN gave it a 9.9... so I don't know what Gamespot is talking about.
I played it for three hours last night and I'm loving it. The combat is a bit more then button mashing. The best way I've heard it described is a rock, paper, sissors fighting system.
You have three basic attack buttons. Attack(rock), Power Attack(sissors), and Block(paper). Basically, your block will counter any basic attack, an attack will interupt a Power Attack (these attacks take time to charge) and Power Attack can break through a Block. So, you could certainly just mash buttons and live for as long as your luck lasts, but I'm convinced it'd be tough to last as the game progresses.

Well, I don't consider scores ... But I didn't like the words Gamespot used to describe the combat system. It gave me a bad taste on my mouth.

What difficulty are you playing? I'm not expecting the same complexity/difficulty of Ninja Gaiden, but I'd like something fun! I'll give it a shot one of these days!

As is their style, EB did not order enough copies to fill out all their pre-orders, leaving me with a lingering cloud of low-level hate for them. They said to come back tomorrow. I want that extra character, but I also want to play the game.
Yarr.

Hrm... you know, that's a good question. What ever the default difficulty is since I haven't changed it. I'll have to check tonight and get back to you. It's definitely not a Ninja Gaiden style game in it's difficulty. The story is rather intrigueing at this point, but I haven't really delved deep enough into it just yet to really have a full idea of how cool it'll be...

They did that to me with Halo2 LE
I decided that I was going to shop at MicroPlay from then on.

You know, I don't think I've ever played a game as hard as Ninja Gaiden. For some reason the combat system totally eludes me, I cannot get the hang of it at all. Too much rote memorisation for me.

Had the coolest fight last night and ended up exploding my rival. It was so cool. I wasn't expecting it. Very cool game.

What I like about NG combat is the complexity! There's tons of moves meaning you can play totally different way than somebody else. Plus, it's pretty damn hard, so very rewarding when you finish it.

Will go to Blockbuster today. Not sure if I'll get D3 or Jade Empire. Most likely none of those, cause they'll be out ...

If you talk to Ai Ling in Tien's Landing and think that her voice is familiar, you are right. It's Kari Wahlgren, who was the voice of Jan in I Love Bees.
Win!

found a bug in JE...
In the Imperial City, after you go through the Lotus Assassins HQ, I am unable to talk to anyone, and I mean ANYONE, in the Market Center. Has anyone else noticed this or does the gods of JE just hate me???
Please help...

See, I'm not very good at videogames, so I save after just about every battle - and sometimes before them too.
Certain strategies: magic works very well against Spirit Masks, while physical attacks assure almost certain defeat.

I had something kinda like that happen to me. There is a certain elevator in the assassins HQ that takes you down to a lower level. The control for the elevator is pretty close to the wall. Some how, when I turned on the elevator my character got stuck in the entrance to the elevator room. It was rather odd. I could stand there and watch the elevator spin, but it never actually went down, and I couldn't get back on it. Luckily I had saved just before entering that room, so I just reverted and tried again. Making a point to stay further away from the wall...
